If you ask a Tennessee fan they would say Smart turned Auburn down.

Maybe because he knows it's an uphill battle being the fifth or sixth best team in the SECW

Jacobs took him to Chiz's old office,he found a glass with false dentures in it and a note from Cam saying thanks for the memories.

According to Mike Ferrell's (sp?) sources, Kirby had a contract offer and it was thought he would accept. Something happened.

Ask a gump: Yes

Ask an Aubie: No

No one here knows. No one not involved with the actual discussions does either. Cept maybe Saban since Kirby would have kept him informed.

Kirby is always the bridesmaid and never the bride.

bg13 posted this on the bama board:

Kirby turned down $2M+. Not sure if there is another job that makes sense for him, or if he was reassured what he's thought all along - Bama is his when Saban leaves.

Either way, he was offered in the $2.3M/year range. Glad to hear he's staying. Hate that he considered it to the point of negotiation.
should be fun to lol about with recruits IMO.

Does it matter? He still interviewed with your hated rival, and never came out and said he was choosing to stay at Bama. Did I mention he interviewed with your hated rival? The DC of your team getting ready to play in the biggest game spent the last couple days talking to us?

Auburn turned Kirby down. There were some demands he wanted met and he wasn't worth it to Auburn, so they didn't meet them.
