Stanford beat USC because they showed poise and purpose.
ULM beat Arkansas the same way.

Many more undermanned teams will be able beat higher ranked and higher talented teams every week.
The common denominator is poise and purpose. AU has never shown this this year or last year.

This is why no one gives them a chance.

Why do most people think AU has no chance against LSU
We have seen top rated teams go down on the road to lesser quality opponents.

It will happen this year. Which team will be on the tail end of the stick? Who knows.. But all on here predicting a blowout with LSU at AU should probably take a minute and realize:

Blowouts are not entertaining.

LSU hasnt won often in JHS and when they did it was on a great td pass by J Lee. Prior to that AU has held its own against LSU in JHS.

LSU has played 3 games 1 BCS opponent 2 weaker teams from small non competitive football teams.

LSU is young in some areas.
LSU has played all 3 games at Tiger Stadium .

Using last year as a measuring stick isnt the same. Prior to that AU won in JHS.
In 2009 AU got shell-shocked in TS.

ULM/MSU. Who knows how good these teams maybe, one is undefeated and the other has beaten an BCS team in their own house.

So here's to a good/competitive game on Saturday.

And my prediction.. TIGERS WIN!

I will say that JHS can't produce some weird fricked up games like the UF game in 2001

and

I agree with your point that "We have seen top rated teams go down on the road to lesser quality opponents."

That usually happens, however, when the underdog team is a team full of seniors and like 20 returning starters. As we all well know, this Auburn team is still very young. Also lacks leadership according to Pat Dye.

when it takea a FG in OT to beat ULM you know your team is shite. LSU could beat ULM by 40 with Stephen Rivers taking every snap.

I'll put it to you this way. This Saturday I won't be watching the LSU/AU game...I'll be at a gun and knife show... Oh and I've had to get up at like 3 am the past 3 years to watch Auburn games and I never missed one.

I..for one, am not counting my chickens on this one. Auburn has always been uber-competitive with LSU except 2 of the last 3.

Hardly ever teams as good as LSU or Alabama are this year.

Not to LSU or Alabama.

The gap between the two teams has never been this big. At least not in this century, except maybe last year.

LOL. Irrelevant. Y'all lucked out with Cam in 2010. Without him, LSU is going for 6 in a row against Auburn on Saturday.

I posted this in a different thread yesterday regarding this subject. I'll repeat it here.

LSU 48 Allbarn 10 The AU delusion in this thread is incredible. You are not playing ULM (who you barely beat in JHS) on Saturday. It's #2 in the nation coming to bring pain to the Plains. Go LSU! ...

If you have watched your team at all, you shouldn't even have to ask this question. AU is terrible on offense, bad on defense(especially stopping the run)and pretty good special teams. LSU is much better in all three phases plus a better HC.

LSU-Auburn is always a war. Last year was the first non-competitive game since '02.

This game makes me nervous. I'll be happy with any kind of win......

Agree. One tough game against a fired up team in their stadium does not change the fact that LSU has one of the best defenses in the nation. But LSU will need better OL play, receivers who can hold onto the ball and to open up the play-book for Mett; he has an accurate, cannon arm and can make plays if given enough time to survey the field. And while McCarron is a solid QB, much of his success is due to an excellent Bama OL. Any of the better QB's in the SEC, including Mett, would look better behind the Bama OL.
