Last year LSU was the talented young team that shocked everyone dominating oregon and starting off 13-0. Alabama was led by veteran defense, a solid ol, and a first year starter at QB.

This year Alabama has the younger team and opens up with #8 Michigan. LSU has the veteran defense and the first year starter at QB. It's almost like roles are reversed this year.

Does Alabama jump to #1 after beating Michigan like LSU did after beating Oregon last year?

This "we can't lose" mentality coming from the gumps is comical.

LSU did not get to #1 in the AP Poll until week 5 of last year and the Coaches Poll until week 7.

Pre-season ranking don't mean jack, anyway.

Ask Oklahoma, 2011.

Yeah, it's fun and makes for great discussion- but as we were taught last year ( ), it's not where you start, it's where you FINISH.

Both LSU & Bama are solid teams deserving of lofty expectations. However, being highly ranked also means EVERYONE would love to claim your scalp only that much more....

Meh..only if they beat them like 52-10 or something..if it is like a 38-17 type ballgame then no, IMO..Either situations could pan out though, but UM won't get close to winning

I would imagine.....but it really doesn't matter. One other thing, Michigan is tremendously overrated....they are nowhere close to the team oregon had....but since the media has overrated them as a top 8 team, despite beating only two marginal top 25 teams last year.....alabama will get a huge spike off of it when they beat them by 30. Michigan is about as overrated as Notre Dame was a few years back in the Sugar Bowl.

Bama will jump LSU after beating Michigan. But LSU will jump Bama after beating Bama.

As long as LSU wins the BCS Champ game 21-0, I am OK with it.

LSU didn't jump to #1 after beating Oregon last year. LSU didn't move up to #1 until after the 4th game of the season and our third convincing win away from home against a nationally ranked opponent.
