It occurred to me the other day when I saw a prediction thread on the Auburn/Vandy game, that a lot of you don't think much of Auburn. Now, I understand that the conversation is naturally going to revolve mostly around teams in contention for the league and I don't get my feelings hurt about Auburn being left out of those conversations, but Auburn/Vandy predictions??

Auburn loses 2 starters on offense and 2 in defense (1 is Neiko Thorpe), had added a ton of talent and has a much more favorable schedule. They also played more true freshman than anyone in the SEC and perhaps, in the nation. Phil Steele name Auburn the youngest team in the nation out of 117 teams last year. Logic, based on fact, not opinion, should tell us that this will be a much improved team, although still young.

I'm predicting 9-4 with losses to Bama, LSU, Georgia and either Arky or Clemson. Will be much better still in '13 and will be back in contention? Is that not realistic? What are your thoughts?

Auburn will have a decent season but will still be 3rd in the West.

8-5, like last year, but more competitive. Should win Vandy, but it's not a gimme at this point. That could change after a couple games are played.

0-12

The bag man WILL be found. The 14 wins from this season we will no doubt have to be vacated, thus leaving us 0-10.

IMO, Auburn will be slightly better than last year but 3rd in the west at best.

2013 is a different story. AU will be pretty good then.

I can see us being at least one game better than last year and if the stars line up, we could be 2 games better. MOre competitive and we will beat someone we shouldn't..

I think not having a solid experienced QB is still hurting us. We really need a two or three year starter. Though I think our offense will be simple, it will still take someone to orchestrate it. Hope Frazier will be the guy

Defense will be better. Much more physical and with better depth. Dyer was a loss. I don't care what other barners say. It is a loss that will hurt us.

We will beat Arkansas or Georgia and I fully expect us to beat Clemson.

2013 will be a big year for Auburn-- but not 2012.

8-4 would be a very solid year, and 9-3 an excellent one. A bad year would be falling behind TAMU or MSU to 5th in the West; I don't see either extreme as being particularly likely, though.

Third in the west could still be top 10 in the nation.

The SEC is brutal and getting worse each year at this point. If we come out and beat Clemson then I think we will roll to the LSU game. If we lose Clemson, I think we will struggle with MSU also.

If Auburn wins 8 and looks good in the loses, I won't be unhappy. Last year wasn't fun because when we played a good team they made us look like assholes, we just got hammered in every loss. That sucks the fun out of it, if you show up and get beat you can enjoy it.

Everything hinges on QB plau.. If Frazier or white cam matures AU will contend for the Western Division.. If he doesnt, it will be a similar season like last..

All pretty good, pretty realistic opinions. I like the "fully expect to beat Clemson". I am hopeful but that's all. I fully expect to beat Arkansas. That have been what they have been because of Bobby Petrino...they will still be good but but all 3 coaches replaced and the head coach will have a hard time getting his folks to buy in, while he is distracted by his bankruptcy...I think they are going to have a Nallsminger like effect. Georgia? I dunno, that's a long shot.

Bama is still super talented but I think it's funny, Bama fans who dont think they will take a step back. LSU is still going to pound our dick in the dirt I think.

I might would actually enjoy that more than an 8 or 9 win season

Would be a lot of fun to just keep both out of the BCSNC.

Not sure what I think of Auburn specifically, but I think the Arky-Auburn game will be one of the best matches in the SEC this year.
