Well, like I mentioned it depends on what their major is going to be.
I'd hire an Auburn Engineer or Vet Med student. Outside of that, I'm not familiar with any strengths of Auburn.
I'd hire a LSU Petroleum Engineer, Electrical Engineer and maybe a CPA from there.
You have to realize my views are based off of what I deal with across the South. I see lots of A&M, LSU, Auburn, Bama, UGA, UF people, and that's in Houston.
I see very little Arky people and frankly that surprises me since they are a neighbor. It also tells me that maybe Arkansas as a school isn't an aggressive marketer of their students. Same goes for the Mississippi schools.

Either Vandy, UF, UGA or they can go to whatever in-state school I'm living in or they can GTFO.

As for the rest... Arky, UK, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miss State, South Carolina... I either don't know enough about them or have a broad 30,000 ft. view of the schools that isn't impressive to me. My mind could be changed though if someone were able to sell me on the strengths of the schools. I'm not close-minded to any school out there.
I'm in the same boat. I'm sure the other schools have their respective strengths and weaknesses, I'm just not familiar with them enough to know what they are

1) Vanderbilt
2) Georgia
3) A&M
UF is a great school but I'm not so sure I could stomach the thought of giving them any of my money. As for the rest, well, rather my kids go to ACC schools after those 3

#82 vs #128 overall.
#67 vs #93 in engineering.
Yeah, I'd say Auburn is better.

like the dude ahead of you said. you have to look at each individual program. ranking any university across the board is ridiculous and the criteria used is even worse.
Pretty hilarious you're an Auburn student but are an LSU fan fwiw...

To hAve LSU ahead of Auburn is a joke...you want your kids to 1) live in BR and 2) go to a shitty academic school?
Is LSU really that shitty of an academic school? All flames aside - is BR also really that bad?

No, not if your major is anything worth a shite.

No, as long as you're not a poor.

meh, its a state school in the SEC. Among the old 12 schools, they are all about the same except for Florida and UGA (state schools only). They each have their strengths and weaknesses.

its a big city. its gonna have a higher crime rate than most of the other SEC towns.

You still angry about last year's beatdown, huh? :)

Obviously, AU is a very special place and love for my kid to go there...but it really depends on his/her course of study.
This.
I have one in high school now. She's looking at a career in medicine. While Auburn offers pre-med, it certainly isn't the same caliber as Vandy.
You should pick your school based off course of study. You should also cheer/support that school's athletic programs. If my kids go somewhere other than Auburn, I expect them to be fans of that school.

Of course, I'd prefer my kid go to LSU, especially since I plan on setting up shop in Louisiana, but I'd support them no matter where they went. I'd prefer it not to be in Mississippi though. Or at Alabama.

1. Vandy
2. UF
3. A&M or UGA, I would rather pay for out of state tuition for A&M then UGA

Sadly, I agree. The Walton College of Business is the tits (not all walmart $ is bad).

UF is a great school, but the thought of my kid dressed in orange and doing the Gator Chomp is unbearable.
I have a grand kid getting ready for college next year. He does not qualify for Vandy and UGA out of state tuition is too high. He lives in Tenn. and has narrowed his choices to UT and Lipscomb. I am pulling for Lipscomb.

True. It's also my alma mater, so it gets a break.
There's a lot to be said for tradition. I was the first Razorback grad in my family, and I expect I'd probably put Arkansas higher on the list if my parents an grand parents had graduated from there as well.
