Glad you enjoyed your time here. The weather has been cold.
What course did you play? Chester?

Mrs. Myra's by the Summit.
I live within walking distance of Mrs. Myra's. It is so very very good.
Also Primavera Coffee (right behind Mrs M's) is some fantastic coffee, although the staff is a little too snobbish for me.
And for the OP, cabs can be expensive and hard to find in Birmingham. Definitely put a number to a cab company in your phone because there's no such thing as flagging a cab down on the street in Birmingham.

Sounds like Halifax. I will follow this advice.

Very nice. I could give some recommendations for stuff nearby, but most of the better places are closer to downtown. Give Dram a try.

For lunch, look up a place called Kairos Kafe. They have a location a couple miles from the UAB campus and one in gardendale that's also open for dinner. The food is fantastic and it's relatively unknown, for the moment at least.

If you guys are going to be going out downtown and are looking for some good late night, Al's deli & grill is fantastic. It is open 24 hours and is great cheap Mediterranean food. BBQ baker FTW!

Had the Chicken Salad, with Greek dressing, there about a week ago . . . huge and awesome.
And speaking of authentic Greek food - Nabeel's Cafe & Market, in Homewood (just over the Mountain) is great. Try the turkey pita and hummus one afternoon. Used to be on my list (when I was single) to take dates for lunch.

We live in Cahaba Heights too. There's another poster that lives here too. LSU fan. Can't remember his/her name.
Mrs Myra's chicken with the white sauce is the shite. I'd also recommend either The Olive Branch or The Pita Stop if over this way.

Also, if you are going to be staying in the Shoal Creek area, you will want to check out the Hwy 280 area.
There's a pizza place in Mnt Laurel which will be very close to you: Area 41
Chuck's is down on the Greystone end of 280 as is Jim n Nick's BBQ. Lloyd's is there too, but the last two times I've been there haven't been good. Surin is another on 280 if you like Thai. Then the Cahaba Heights places: Blackwells's (get the morning wood burger), The Pita Stop, Mrs Myra's, or Billy's.
What or where will you be going during your stay? Closer to Bham is the Titled Kilt and Superior Grill which are two places to chase women.

Get that large chicken sandwich to go, they give you like 6 of the little cups of sauce, walk back home and just drench it in sauce. Gah, now I'm hungry.
I would recommend eating at the downtown Pita Stop over the one in Cahaba Heights. Call me sentimental, but the old one has that feel of a hole in the wall/forgotten restaurant that just cranks out great food. The one in the 'burbs is a little too polished for me I guess.

Yeah, it's like recommending that someone go to Hooters.

Didnt mind hooters when the girls were gorgeous and the food was good. When they only had one per city and hired the best talent.

Sure, but when someone is staying somewhere as nice as Shoal Creek and want to get a taste of the city, you wouldn't recommend they go there.
