Boiled crawfish in Baton Rouge?

Posted by Halifax on 3/16/19 at 7:42 pm

Where can I go to get an authentic boiled crawfish experience in Baton Rouge?

Has anyone been to the Bluffs recently? The course sounds intriguing.

Write the Metairie CC an email and tell him you’d like to play and why.
You’d be surprised they may let you on.

I agree with your advice.
Hey Folks - Great recommendations and advice. Much appreciated. I don’t plan to involve my pro to call Metairie CC, as he helped me out very recently. If anyone is still interested, I’ll look for post. No pressure we can play elsewhere. Thanks again.

Cheers.
I am coming to Louisiana from Nova Scotia next week with my 12 year old daughter. I will be staying in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and possibly Lafayette.

Considering going fishing. I’ve done some internet searching for a good charter/guide and the choices are overwhelming. I would love some recommendations. Unless there are strong reasons given, I don’t think I am looking to go offshore. I might be naive, but thinking it would be fun for my daughter (and me) to see a swamp as part of the experience.

Thanks

Tell him to get ready for ground under repair everywhere. We just finished an extensive irrigation project that ran longer than expected with all the rain this winter. There are trench repairs on every hole.

I will definitely tell him. South has been getting killed with rain. Sound like you are making good investment in your course.

What kind of places and budget are you looking for? Any certain areas?

Authentic NOLA is what I am looking for. Will pay for a pricey meal, but it doesn't have to be fancy - as long as it is authentic. I've been to NOLA once about 10 years ago. Enjoyed a Friday lunch at Gallatoires and supper at Commander's Palace. Also had a great poboy, but I forget where. Loved them all.
That's good news. Been on Commander's Palace looking for a few different times and apparently booked. Can't get through by phone. Thought everything would be booked up.
Hello,

I am coming to NOLA for several days: Friday, March 22 - Sunday, March 24, with my 13 year old daughter. I have not made any reservations. What do y'all suggest?

And I realize I am late on planning here. My bad.

Thanks
Hey Folks,

Trip is coming up and I am psyched. Daughter and I have been working on our golf games and getting ready. Here is the rough itinerary:

Arrive Tuesday, March 19 - Drive to Baton Rouge via River Road, do a tour at Houma House, eat at Roberto's.

Wednesday - Play LSU University Club, tour LSU, see Mike the Tiger, attend the LSU baseball game, supper at Chimes;

Thursday - Drive to Lafayette to watch friend play opening round of the Chitimacha Louisiana Open, dinner with him - crawfish boil at LT's or somewhere else Cajun.;

Friday - drive back to NOLA, golf (course TBD), supper at Commander's;

Saturday - Golf at Bayou Oaks, NOLA touring and eating;

Sunday - Golf (place TBD), NOLA eating and touring, Pelicans vs. Rockets;

Monday - fly back to Nova Scotia.

NOLA golf will depend on Metairie CC. Hoping that works out. If so, thinking other will be Audubon. If it doesn't work out will look at the other suggestions, which I greatly appreciate.

Hey Halifax!

Coming to play Cabot Links in June and couldn't be more excited! how do you like it up there. Also, if you're coming down for a few days, I would recommend checking out English Turn and Money Hill-both way better than Metairie CC.

I've lived here most of my life. Hate the weather, otherwise it's good.

You will love Cabot. It's legit. Let me know if you are spending any time in Halifax and I can help you out.

Yes they did renovate Shoal a couple of years ago. The changes are fantastic.

I haven't been down there since November. Will miss out this trip South, which is too bad. But will be there in April. :usa:
Everyone,

This is awesome! Exactly what I was looking for. Pretty much drooling.
Hopefully things dry out by then. Fly down on March 19.

Broussard/Lafayette Recommendations

Headed to Louisiana with my daughter for March break. We are going to Broussard to attend the Web.com golf tournament (Chitimacha Louisiana Open). I've never been to the area. Looking for recommendations for local favourite restaurants, with an emphasis on authentic.

Thanks
Bump:

Looking forward to getting to Louisiana. Thought I would check in.

:cheers:

Medtiger - I will definitely involve our pro at Shoal if something doesn't work out here. He's set me up in the past.

Looking forward to seeing Raynor's LA effort. FWIW - a friend of mine on the tour gave MCC a strong endorsement when I was discussing my plans with him.

From what I am reading here, it sounds like a fun membership.

Thanks again to all for the advice.

Rendevoustavern - Thanks very much for the kind offer to host and getting guidance from Dave, would be awesome if he is interested. Looking to play on either Friday, March 21, Saturday, March 22, or Sunday, March 23.

Also - the trip to NOLA, BR etc is a March break adventure with my daughter. She is 13 and is a treat. She plays golf (including Shoal) and is actually getting fitted for a new set of clubs tomorrow. I totally understand, if this changes your mind.
Thanks folks. I'll speak to my pro at Shoal. He's arranged reciprocal's in the past. Thought I would check in here first.

If I don't have luck with him, I'll be back. Appreciate the help and advice.
