Fans get caught up into schemes way too much. The bottom line is that the fundamentals win and the schemes are just a means to winning. If you can outblock and outtackle the opponent your team will win a lot regardless of what the scheme is. It doesn't hurt that Alabama has more talent either.

I suggest a story published the other day about TCU HC Gary Patterson on why the SEC dominates. Google it. Pretty good read.

I think LSU had a few things going to start the season. The opener against Oregon really primed LSU for a fast start. After a few wins including tough road tests at MSU and WVU, LSU, with a stingy D and a threat of a vertical passing game had a string of games against mediocre to bad QBs (UK, UF, UT, AUB), gaining a ton of confidence heading into the Bama game. Bama was not reading their keys defensively against the option attack that night. Ole Miss was Ole Miss, just terrible.

Once JJ took over, the vertical offense sputtered, Kenny Hilliard emerged, and the offense fed off of the defense, the special play of TM7, and the many short fields, culminating in the offensively mindfrick of a performance in the BCSNCG.

My answer in a word DEPTH

This is what separates the top teams from the pack. Teams like ark and south car had the ones to run with anyone. It's the backups that are a drop off and the reason you would see teams play close the first half then basically get beaten into submission

Actually JJ had the best game of either qb's all year against ark.

The answer is Nick Saban. Les is great. Just not as great as Saban.
Point: Kirby Smart, when asked why Bama did not offer TM7,said that Nick said he wes too short to play corner. That a tall slick wide out would beat him 9out of 10 times if he ran the right route and the Qb put the ball in the right place. I heard this sometime before the game. I remembered this at the start of the second quarter. As long as Saban is at bama we will play for second place. I love LSU as much as anyone, but that is just the way it is.
Ps. We will still kick arkie's arse.

That's not true at all man. Had every other team not lost, Bama doesn't get the rematch. I guess you're forgetting who won te last two regular season games and who returns 80 % of our two deep roster. While Bama did kick our arse on Jan 9th its stupid to think LSU is playing or second. It's been two year since Bama has even won the west, let alone the sec title. While Bama prob was the best team last year, had the dominoes not fell just right , then LSU is prob raising its 3rd crystal in 10 years. You forget how young LSU was last year. No one expected a title run last year and we won the sec. 2012 was supposed to be our year. Stop thinking Bama is on a separate level as LSU. When lsu wins on Nov. 3 it'll be a 1000 days since Bama has beaten LSU during the regular season. Stop thinking like a pussy.

You think Bama and LSU having a good year is gonna make other seasoned coaches rethink their philosophies? Seriously?
