Had some guy on the RoundTable yesterday from Vegas saying that McCarron is at 20/1 on the Heisman futures odds for next year. I guess when they say there's a sucker born every minute, the OP is proof that it's true.

But he does get to collect some cool jewelry.

Not with the offense Saban wants to run. Saban will likely never have a Heisman winning QB, but I could see him getting a few more for running backs.

I could see us opening it up some this year.

Unlikely Heisman candidate given Alabama's emphasis on a balanced rushing attack. I do think his numbers will improve and I wouldn't be surprised to see him throw for 23-25 TDs next year. Receivers are much more talented, bigger, more speed and OL should be among best ever at Bama. Solid year but no Heisman numbers like Barkley, Landry Jones and others who are playing in 7 on 7 flag football leagues.

Keyword being "some". I could see it too with how McCarron progressed as the year went forward, but I still think Lacy has a way better shot than AJ overall.

the QB of a team in contention for a NC is always a Heisman candidate (see the list below) because the system by which the Heisman is voted on is pretty much broken
2000 Chris Weinke
2001 Eric Crouch
2002 Carson Palmer
2003 Jason White
2004 Matt Leinart
2006 Troy Smith
2007 Tim Tebow
2008 Sam Bradford
2010 Cam Newton
2011 Robert Griffin III
If Bama were to stumble then McC's Heisman chances will stumble as well.
FWIW I think a guy like Wilson or Murray is potentially a lot more deserving (if we must be stupid and restrict ourselves to QBs and maybe RBs) but they likely won't have the same chance McC may get

The only person at this point in time on the UA team who deserves to go to NY, using their past performance as an indicator for next year, is B. Jones...and that ain't happening next year.

I've heard both Gary Danielson and Cowherd mention him and Heisman candidate in the same breath. Not saying I agree with it, but some comments from guys that get paid for their opinion.
ETA: They were talking about potential for next season, not based on numbers from last season.

To be a Heisman candidate, you better be leading or close to leading in your position's major stat categories.
I don't see Mac doing that next season, but that doesn't mean that he isn't a good QB. He's no RGIII, Cam, or Sam Bradford. System may have something to do with it...Bama's got better chance with a RB winning it for them, for sure.

I don't know if Bama throws enough to get it over more prolific QB's - under Saban Bama more likely to have a RB candidate like Ingram, Trent, TJ Yeldon in a year or two.

Week 4 or 5 of 2009 Greg McElroy was on everyone's heisman watch list. Then he hit one of the worst slumps I've ever seen a qb go through for about 4-5 games. Which is where Mark Ingram picked up momentum in the heisman race by carrying the team on his back until Greg got his confidence back and started playing like he knew how to again.
All I'm pointing out here is that a qb in alabama's system can garner heisman love. It's happened before, it could happen again. Especially since I think this new OC my try to toss the rock around a bit more than mcelwayne did.
I'm not saying he will be a candidate, but I do agree with NBamaAlum that will open it up some next year and that could very well boost AJ to at least get in the mix. Not enough to win I don't think, but he could get mentioned pretty heavily throughout the season. Especially if he throws up some big numbers early on starting the season against what will be a top 10 team probably in Michigan.

If he gets trusted more, he will be. We have been passing more the last few seasons. I also have high hopes for Duran Carter, son of Cris Carter, since Cris sings his praises so often.
ps: Before anyone says that its just fathertalk, Cris expects Duran is goigo be a premier WR in college football when he gets on the field. Thats a little beyond fathertalk.

It could be that reading's not your strong suit. I'm guessing what you really need to brush up on is your observational awareness skills, though.
A little more careful observance, with a skoch more critical thinking sprinkled in on top, and you'd have gotten there just fine.
Keep at it, though. I'm sure you'll improve with time.
