Vandy 65, Auburn 35 What's up with Auburn Basketball?

I just returned from Vandy's Memorial Gym where Vanderbilt beat Auburn 65 to 35. It was the worse performance I've ever seen from any SEC basketball team that has visited Nashville the past 5 years since I've been going to games there. There was absolutely no fire, excitement or drive from anyone on Auburn's team or bench including the coaching staff. You will usually see a team fired up for the first conference game of the season, but not Auburn. They never made not one run during the game. It was like they just came from a funeral. They just went thru the motions in the 2nd half and was really side to see. So what is up with Auburn's coaching staff?

Auburn's basketball is about as good as Alabama's women's basketball. and as relevant.

difference is Bama's womens team would beat our guys team

I remember a 93-52 route of my Cats in '08 that disagrees with you.
Auburn just isn't a very good basketball team.

We can't shoot a jump shot to save our life.

This. It's nice to not be the cellar dweller in the SEC anymore

No, this was worse, trust me, especially for the first SEC game of the season, I was stunned.

I see they are finally starting to win this year. And without Kaneisha Horn.

So no Aubies want to way in on your head coach?

We've gone from losing to terrible teams and getting smashed by decent teams to beating terrible teams and still getting smashed by decent teams.
We're young...still a few years away from being anywhere near the postseason. Barbee's taking us in the right direction, just not quickly. I'll take slow progress over continued losses to the likes of Kennesaw State and North Florida.
And Rob Chubb is a waste.

I thought Barbee did a good job last year. That along with what seemed like a better roster made me think Auburn would be a bit better than they are at this point.
At Vanderbilt's not an easy game though.

As bad as Auburn may be this year, A&M is much worse. It's very possible that the Aggies go 0-18 in conference. That would make every mens team this year a national joke especially given the preseason expectations.

Auburn Sucks, really no other way of putting it

The last two performances against FSU and Vandy are unacceptable, period. We shouldn't be getting beat by 30.
Having said that, I don't understand why everybody is freaking out about AU bball. Do folks need to reminded that we were arguably THE WORST TEAM in the BCS last year? THE WORST! We had no real talent other than Sullivan and haven't had any real talent for a while now.
Our talent has been upgraded a little bit this year (not much), and Barbee is bringing in top 100 players to this program, which is a feat in itself considering how bad this program has been the last 8 yrs or so. Barbee is a good coach, and he is going to get us back to the tournament. But he's not going to do it overnight. It's going to take time, like 3-4 yrs, for him to seriously upgrade the talent and get the guys he wants to run his system.
Barbee's got to correct whatever has been going on these last two games, but overall, I don't know what our fans expected this year. We're not going to be a good team necessarily, but we will win more games than we did last year. Considering where our program is, year-to-year progress is all I can ask for. We won 4 conference games last year, and I think we can win 6 or so this year. The team will play better. It can't get any worse.
Again, considering what Barbee inherited when he took over, I'm very pleased with what he's done so far and what he will do in the future if he sticks around.

lolwut. There are very few major conference teams that are much worse than Auburn this year and I'm 75% sure that aTm isn't one of them. Stop trying to steal the pity that Auburn basketball has earned.
