Doesn't Bama have a lot of key seniors as well as top under classmen going pro?
What top players does Bama return in 2012. It seems like they may be due another 2010 type season.
LSU is bringing back everybody except QBa some OL and LBs.

They'll lose:
RB: Richardson
WR: Maze and Hanks
OL: Vlachos, possibly Jones (doubtful)
DL: Chapman
LB: Upshaw, Hightower, Harris
DB: Menzie, Barron, Kirkpatrick, possibly Lester

Could be huge losses since the current QB isn't good enough to beat out the other two that LSU has seen as "holding them back" the past few years.

According to the LSU experts, Alabama wouldn't compete in 2011 because of the loss of four 1st round draft picks.

How does LSU taste?
You can't seem to get it out of your mouth.

Yeah. LSU wasn't suppose to compete after the loss of Nevis, Peterson, and Shepherd.
I guess that's why all the "other" experts had Bama pre-season #1 or #2.
Boy were they wrong.

LSU loses on offense
1) JJ QB
2) JL QB
3)Stampley FB
4)Peterson TE
5)Hebert OL
6)Blackwell OL
7)Shaw OL
8)Randle WR ? Draft
Defense
1)Adams DE
2)Hatcher LB
3)Francois LB
4)Brooks CB
5)Taylor S
6)Claiborne CB
7)Montgomery DE ? Draft
8)Brockers DT ? Draft
You have two draft eligible sophmores who may not return. Claiborne is a junior who is a top 5 pick like PP7. Randle could also enter the draft.
While Alabama loses 17 seniors and 3-5 juniors, LSU's losses will be more minimal because Miles does a better job of developing Depth than Saban. Miles' defenses are more based on athleticism while Saban's are more complex and scheme driven.

Considering Alabama is the current #2 and playing for a title, I guess they weren't wrong afterall.

Alabama loses 24 seniors plus several juniors going pro. That said they have a solid junior class that will be seniors and a solid sophomore class behind it.
Their problem is going to be replacing Richardson and their QB hasn't stepped up, that said their offense doesn't ask the QB to do much. replacing their olinement plus richardson and some of their more talented guys on defense will be tough to do but they are very deep in talent.

both qbs aren't really a loss, 2 of the 3 olinemen aren't big losses.
the linebackers aren't a big loss either

Alabama has 17 seniors that are on scholarship.
Alabama won't be replacing an offensive line with four starters back.

I think he has done very well. Title game in first year, high scoring offense, and few mistakes. A perfect fit for Bama at QB.

Bama and LSU will be top five, can't ask for more than that.
