Hate each other or more delusional?

After Reading a few posts it seems like basketball fans are less delusional than football fans?

Thoughts? Am I crazy?

Huh? Are you saying Alabama football fans could/would hate Alabama basketball fans? And vice versa?

I think if you're a fan of a school, you're a fan of everything to do with it. Period.

Our fanbase in basketball seems to be fickle, unsupportive (for the most part) and all around miserable.

They're the same people. But when it comes to football there are three different groups: Those that think we're going to win 9 or 10 games every season, those that think we're going to lose 9 or 10 games every season, and the rational ones. You don't find many of the rational ones at places like CatsPause, but they seem to be the most abundant IRL.

Football seems to be more delusional. But our baseball fans are the worst. They boo anything that doesn't go our way. If a ball goes over the catchers head and the ump calls it a ball "BOOOOOOOO. Come on ump! Put some fricking glasses on!!!"

in the sec, football fans outnumber basketball fans about 1000 to 1, unless you live in kentucky.

the delusion is pretty much proportional to that.

check out a basketball forum in the acc or the big east and you will find sec football level delusional fans.

I don't think you can really divide the Gamecock fan base as 2 distinct crowds. I think Gamecock fans are generally speaking pretty realistic about both teams.

Ae have a basketball team?...when Auburn put some good teams on the court in the late 90s, I went to the games. With the kickass new AU Arena, I hope to make it to some games this year. Thats the only way I know how to answer your question.

It's because the media doesn't jerk off sec teams in basketball like they do in football. ACC fans are the sec fans of basketball.

Our basketball program has been better than football, so when we get a coach that we believe in and start showing promise in football, everyone gets extremely wooly. Basketball is totally different. Every year is supposed to be "the year" and then we underachieve. Most people are pessimists when it comes to basketball because of Stansbury. In football, we know we should probably lose, but expect to win. In basketball, we know we should win, but expect a let down loss. Basketball fans are much more objective. Football fans are more about emotion and maroon goggles.
