Arky 2010 vs. Arky 2011

I have heard many Arkansas fans say that this is the best team they have ever had. What makes this true if indeed it is? Personally I think that Arkansas was a more complete team last year than this year but I have not watched both teams every week or anything...

Last year was better. Their O-line was dominant, and their recieving core with a healthy Childs was better IMO. Plus, Knile Davis gave thenm a homerun threat at RB.

I think last years team was better but neither of them are in the top 5 Hog teams. Would love to see this team with 1977's defense.

Arkansas 2010 would beat Arkansas 2011 by 14.
Mallett and Davis owned.
2012 Arkansas will be their best team in a long time.
LSU 38
Arkansas 25

Who said this was our best team ever? We had teams in the 60's and 70's that were better.

I would like to know as well.
I've been waiting for this thread, only took 582 other Arkansas threads to get to it.

I agree...we definitely were a more complete team last year. Our defense was better last year.

Mallett sucked right LSU fans?

2010 was a more consistently good team that didn't have the luxury of an easier schedule. However, the current 2011 team appears to be peaking at a level the 2010 team couldn't. The defense, while abysmal with injuries at points in the 2011 season, seems to be playing its best ball in the Bobby Petrino era. Wilson lacks the crisp deep throw that Mallett could make but moves the chains like Mallett couldn't. And Johnson, while a less dominating back, probably fits better with Wilson and Petrino's knack for the spread. There is shockingly little drop-off with Johnson instead of Davis. Greg Childs never fully recovering is a major hit to this team because Cobi Hamilton just isn't the player a healthy GC was. LSU didn't see Childs last year either way so who knows.

I haven't heard any Hog fan claim this to be even one of our better teams.
At the beginning of the season Petrino was vocal and thought that the D would be his best to date, but they were unproven and have been battling injuries most of the season. During the BAMA game, both DE's were out (which he felt would be difference makers) along w/ a starting CB. The DT's have improved but haven't been as good as we thought.
Special teams- we are better. No question. Hocker is a solid kicker. Adams has been stellar on PR and Johnson is a good KR.
Offensively- (sigh) the OL is young and will be good down the road, but have almost gotten Wilson killed this season. Wilson doesn't have Mallett's arm, but makes better decisions. Losing Knile was a real blow and it was mid-season before DJ finally settled in.
Overall, we have found ways to win and improve each week. Now we go to BR healthy and playing our best ball. Will it be enough to beat a freakin stellar LSU team? We will find out. Maybe not in a multi-game series, but we only have to do it once.

Agreed. Since at least the 70s. A lot depends on the young WRs though. I really wish Childs would have redshirted this year and came back full speed next year. It would help the transition. However, we will have an offensive machine even without the Adams, Wright, and Childs trio.
Getting Bama and LSU at home helps with the record, even if it has nothing to do with how good the team actually is.

LSU @ Arkansas in Little Rock could be 1 vs 2 to end the regular season. Would be literally wild.

Maybe I shouldn't want the game moved to Arky's true homefield but that stadium in LR is a dump. I don't make the trip there but RRS is more aesthetically pleasing. not to mention to whole LR thing isn't working for us. House of horrors.

Since we are talking about how good ark is, do you even feel that they are better than any team in the East? I mean if they were to beat us and somehow win the 3 way tie to go to the SECCG, do you think they would beat GA?

Hamilton is not the player, but he is a damn good one.
