People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has criticized the use of live elephants in Elephant Walk.[6] The term "elephant walk" also refers to a well known fraternity hazing ritual, where the fraternity's pledges walk in a circle, holding the penises of the pledges in front and back of themselves.

Sorry Aggies, but your traditions are ghey and lame. This is coming from a fan that throws toilet paper into trees.

I can't tell you how many Aggy say this is BS, but they would be lying...
Flight of the Great Pumpkin
quote:
In 1973, a certain outfit in the regiment, one C-2, filled a pumpkin with some of the most vile items imaginable (Dead cats, feces, urine, and other assorted nasty items), and tossed said pumpkin into the band dorm making an awful mess. Ever since then, they try and get this nasty pumpkin into the band dorm on Halloween each year. The Aggie Band Freshman defend the dorm from the attackers made up of C-2 upperclassmen. My freshman year they had 5 decoy pumpkins come straight up the quad while they tried to sneak the real vile pumpkin through the side door by approaching from behind the band hall. They failed, but it was a close run thing.
Aggy Band BQ Traditions... oy vey

Just when I think, "You know, I'm gonna quit screwing with them," someone up and uncovers another insanely retarded tradition.
First off, how many freaking traditions do they have? Secondly, are any of them not retarded or gay?

They have a tradition of losing. That's not gay or retarded.

It really does seem like they have a "tradition" for every conceivable thing you could do. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a traditional way for Aggy females to undress and if they don't do it right the guys tell them to GTFO.

Went there for 5 years and dont know what Elephant-Walk is...never heard any of my friends talking about it. I think it is probably one of the old corps traditions or something.

Nope.

Though started by the Corps of Cadets, today all seniors at Texas A&M are welcome to participate. The march of seniors often stretches for a mile (1.6 km) consisting of several thousand seniors.

For the class of 2007, Elephant Walk began at Kyle Field for Yell practice and presentation of the class gift.
quote:Holy shite! They get to take pictures with live elephants.
Before the walk, T-shirts and pictures with live elephants will be taken at the Clayton Williams Alumni Center.
This is some priceless stuff right here.

Maybe they should have spent less time ritualizing every last damned thing they could think of that happens off the field and more time actually concentrating on the sport that takes place on the field.
For a team that hasn't really done squat except the odd conference title since Hitler invaded Poland, they sure do have a lot of pomp and circumstance. It's seems kind of like white tablecloth dining at McDonald's.

We send the yell leaders to all the SEC schools in a 1940's milk truck to introduce the new yells so everyone is used to them.
then they (along with the corps) start on the east coast and walk back to college station with a giant fricking elephant, fake guns, the whole bit ..
but ...
if our mascot barks twice we cancel all of the above ...
