Schedule. Look at Nutt, Hawkins (looked like great coaches at Boise St.) well lets just say put them in a strong conference and bam the domination goes away. Nutt and Hawkins have failed in coaching in major conferences. I think peterson would do the same. I think Boise St. football would do the same in the Sec or Big 12. What do you ranters think??

You forgot about Dirk Koetter.

Nutt was the last coach to deliver a losing season for Boise.

This may be why Peterson has chosen to turn down other jobs and stay put. The move to the MWC was set up to expose Boise (and/or others) by having to play TCU, Utah, and BYU. Now Utah is going to the PAC and TCU may be invited to the big east.

When Saban leaves for Dallas, I'd take Peterson in a heartbeat.

i think those small team giants (tcu, boise, etc) that are harping about wanting a place at the table do indeed need to form a strong conference so they actually will have a legitimate beef. the bcs need a reorganization with the big east and yes, maybe the acc not getting an AUTOMATIC bcs game. say, if boise will schedule some tough ooc opponents, they are treated equally with the big east.

I just think Peterson is more comparable to an Urban Meyer than a Houston Nutt. Meyer dominated at Utah against lesser competion simarly, and was able to win a BCS bowl and finish undefeated. Peterson has done that multiple times. Without looking it up, I can't remember Nutt ever playing in a game like that at Boise.

Maybe that is because Nutt never had Boise bowl eligible?

Oh, haha, I have no idea about the history of Boise St. But the OP's argument seemed to be that Nutt and Hawkins had the same success as Peterson, so if he left for a big job he would fail too. I disagree.

I was watching that Gameday video talking about the building of the winning tradition at Boise.

They talked about the "talented coaches" and included Nutt.

He didn't ever have a winning season at Boise.

Our AD was set to hire Tubberville.

You can thank the "committee" for that hire.

Nutt coached Boise in Boise's first year at FBS level. That was the only year he was the head coach there.

Big difference is Petersen has a tremendous win/loss record against BCS teams. Boise State got annihilated playing those type of teams with Hawkins and the other Boise State coaches.

No Shiz...and Peterson runs a pro-style O and not an Urban, only works with a Tebow/newton, spread.
