What's the criteria that goes in to these rankings? Cost vs. academic rankings?

Forbes ranked State as 'top 20 in value' a couple of years ago.

This has to be bang for your buck

We are like 88th on US News and World Report...plus my out of state tuition is ridiculously high...so it's gotta be best value

List is BS, the degree I graduated with is ranked 4th in the nation overall in it's field.

It's not about the university as a whole, it's about the program within the university.

"What's the criteria that goes in to these rankings? Cost vs. academic rankings?"

It uses pretty lame methodology like Princeton Review. Basically they ask the students to rate the schools. U.S. News catches a lot of flak from some on their methodology, but at least they factor a lot of hard numbers and some outside opinion to come up with their rankings. This is basically students ranking their own school.

Uh-oh, somebody's gonna be pissed. Especially Arkansas fans who (falsely) think of themselves as brillz.

Auburn is 33rd in US News and World Reports best public schools. Bama is right behind us as well, this list is awful.

This once again. My degree is from the best program of its type in the SEC. B'lee dat.

And, as I've said before, it's all about graduate school anyway.
