The media is setting them up for an epic fail.
ESPN blog on top 25
So they say Texas and UF are overrated because they lose some key players and most of their defense, but Alabama gets a free pass in that category, and is not listed as overrated, instead, left as the obvious #1.
How the frick does that make any logical sense at all?
My only conclusion is that the media is setting Alabama up for an epic fail this season so they can spend weeks talking about how Alabama screwed the pooch.

So your underlying message is UF is No. 1.
Why didn't you just have the balls to say it?

UF isn't #1.
They shouldn't be preseason #1.
But neither should Alabama. Based on this logic.

Probably becaused we kicked UF's and UT's asses the last two games?

You believe ohio state should be #1?

I think Alabama's returning defensive line is overated, and Hightower is not better than McClain, or nearly the leader that he was.

Our special teams could cost us a game, our secondary's young and could cost us a game, possibly early at Arkansas, and the law of averages say you probably don't go undefeated three regular seasons in a row.
But who should be number 1?

Alabama returns all skill positions on offense, save for TE. Texas lost their starting and winningest QB ever. Florida replaces arguably their best QB ever too. All three lost some defense.

Alabama is fine at #1.
But not by the logic these idiots are using.
Don't you see the giant hypocrisy?
Florida is overrated because they lost their defense.
But ALabama isn't?
See what I'm saying?
You can't have it both ways.

i agree with you i just dont see how you can win a sec or natl title when you have to replace so many starters on defnse. not flaming but that defense worked as a cohesive unit last year and now they have to replace them with talented but inexperienced players. there a ten win team but undefeated is hard to imagine.

Dareus was the only defensive lineman that had a pulse. The rest are just fat blocking sleds.

Chapman played NT at least 1/3 of the year and our rushing defense didn't miss a beat.

I believe the reason they are #1 is because they are technically the team to beat. Didn't they win the NC last year?

Is there any returning defensive lineman with any type of impressive performance or stat line in an SEC compettion? I think that is a legitimate question. And please do not say the 30 year old man from Birmingham.

See if they wanted to say, "Uf is overrated because they lost Tebow"
Thats fine.
But I feel like the national media is just casting a blind eye towards Alabama's major problems. Mainly defense and special teams, because the only thing the media cares about is QBs and skill players.

And UF lost way less on defense than Alabama did. Way less.

Did he make any plays, or just take up space while Mclain made plays all over the field? If these lineman are so great, how come their performances do not show up in the box score?
