Dumbest thread of the day!
And is quiting a team actually considered backstabbing?
And I don't understand why people expect players and coaches in the NFL to have loyalty to a team. NFL Franchises seldom show loyalty to players and coaches. All they are loyal to is ticket sales and the win column.

Why? Because your frick buddy is being called a backstabber?
It went five pages, must not be too bad.

The problem is that Petrino left without giving them them warm and fuzzy, tender bye-bye moments on the way out and everyone's butt feelings got hurt.
Arky fans would shite a brick and freak the frick out if he did it to them.
That's backstabbing and it's fricked up.

Petrino resigned
Is that what you call it? I would say he made off like a thief in the night and walked out on his team with 3 games left to play. Stop acting like what he did isn't fricked up b/c you know it was. I don't love or hate Petrino or Ark so don't start with the I'm just bashing Arky shite either.

Petrino just made the same mistake Saban and Spurrier made. Just like the others, he got to the NFL and realized the W's werent coming as easy or often as they did in college and he bolted to a SEC head coaching job when the opportunity presented itself. I don't blame him for wanting to coach at Arky or leaving the Falcons. It's just his timing was terrible and the way he left rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

I know everyone got their feelings hurt. Was it Reeves that got fired? Did that hurt everyone's feelings? Pro ball is business, period.
Everyone else knows what he did was fricked up. You're just trying to back BP up cause he's your coach. And so are the other Arky fans.
Check this out, what Tubby did to Ole Piss was wrong. See, it's not hard to admit.

What bothers me most about Petrino is that he left Atlanta while the season was still in progress. What kiffy did was slimy as well, but atleast he waited till the season was over(although I fully believe that if the USC job opened up during the season he wwould have left)

Again, everyone condemns Petrino for leaving with 3 games left but think it was fine for the Falcons to can Reeves with 3 games left.
I'd say those who are most offended by Petrino leaving the Falcons are still very young and have little to no big bus experience.

They told Reeves they that they were going to go in a different direction when the season was over. He opted to leave with 3 games left.

Reeves was fired with 3 games left. Either way, doesn't matter.
When people resign or quit where I am at, they very rarely get the opportunity to finish out a notice period and certainly don't get to tell their subordinates. They are told to leave immediately and allowed to come back after hours, under security escort to pick their things up. That's not uncommon in the business world.

The NFL is a business but it's not like working at Nissan or Wal-Mart. I'm not trying to be a dick but it's not a typical job. I don't know what went on behind closed doors but I always thought Reeves left on his own that year.
"[Tuesday], I advised Dan that we've decided to bring in a new head coach beginning in the 2004 season," Falcons owner Arthur Blank said. "Dan asked to be released from his position immediately and we agreed to do so, even though our desire was for him to stay on through the rest of the season."
Linebacker Keith Brooking, one of Reeves' staunchest supporters, didn't blame the coach for asking to be let go now.
"You've got to respect that decision," Brooking said. "It would have been tough to come in here and give it everything, knowing your job was ending at the end of the year."
