Because he went behind Tuberville's back to replace him as HC, when Tubs was the one who hired him.

At that time any coach who Auburn Administrator's had reached out to interview would have. Your administrations hands are just as dirty as Petrino's

Eh, we needed change.

Kinda like Tenn. when Fulmer was fired.

UT was much worse off in keeping Fulmer, IMO. 2005-2008 had been dreadful.

They absolutely were...that's why the AD is now Jay Jacobs.

Our offense was steadily getting worse at the end of his regime.
He was a Hell of a coach, and still is, but i think we needed change.
He just let Saban push him around for recruits.

So what about the Atlanta situation bothers you?

Reason I ask is because I've seen some people complain that Petrino left Atlanta with a few games left but those same people are perfectly fine with the way Atlanta canned Reeves. That stance seems a bit hypocritical.

That is an issue that hits me wrong b/c I've worked for couple Fortune 500 companies, both of which demand loyalty from their employees but give none in return. With that experience, I have no problem with the coach (in any sport) leaving a professional organization mid season. None whatsoever.

He left when the going got tough.

So what if it was a bad situation?

He shoulda put on his big boy panties and AT LEAST finished the season. Hell, they made the playoffs the next season when he left.

So that makes me think the talent was there. Maybe he couldn't coach em up? Maybe it was somethin else? We'll never know. But the talent was there.

This is hypethetical:
So say Petrino leaves Arkansas mid-season, after Mallett gets injured, when the going gets tough, and Arky can't win a game, and he decides to just up and leave, you wouldn't have a problem with that?

Come on.

Nope, I've just worked in some pressure situations and have seen similar issues that a lot of people complain about. After a little questioning very few of those same people have really worked in big business or have experience in those matters.

If our AD cannot replace him successfully, we have an AD problem. Every organization I have worked with has succession planning and strategies in place to replace every position.

I would also say there is a difference between the pros and college. There are more personal commitments with the college players than with pro players.

Petrino could not finish the season with the Falcons and take the Arkansas job too. If he tried, Muschamp would likely be the Arkansas coach now. A lot of people here think Long just got lucky with Petrino but Long did a good job of hotboxing Petrino. Simply put, the message was get on the plane to Fayetteville now or stay in Atlanta.
