BCS Busters
On Auburn:
Am I reading this wrong or is the writer implying Chizik has less coaching talent than his assistants?
On Auburn:

However, the coaching staff (at least the assistants) have enough talent to work with to make the systems work, and now the players know what they’re doing.

Chizik is perfect for Auburn. He's doing everything right. I'm VERY concerned about the Iron Bowl this year. Anyone who isn't, is not paying attention.

Chizik DOES do everything right. He lets his assistants (who are better) do the coaching while he stands around and takes all the credit.
At least he knows his limitations. That's more than can be said for some other coaches.

I don't know if that is a dig or not. I guess you could say it is if you read that to be talking about the talent of the coaches.
You could also read it as talking about the talent of the players, and the coaches then having enough talent on the field to make the system work. If that's the case (which is how I read it), and they were talking specifically about the offense (which is how I read it), there is no dig at all. CGC is pretty much hands off on the offense. His previous experience is on the defensive side, and that is where he stays, letting Gus, Trooper, etc. handle the O.

A coach doesn't have to be better or know more than his assistants, he just has to hire the right ones, give them some direction, and let then do their job. Good assistants do not need to be micro-managed.
Really, the same can be said for managers in any job. I always tried to hire people who were better and smarter than me, give them direction, and let them do their job. That worked for me.

I agree... with one more addition... the HC must have authority and/or control. The assistants may be better, but they still need to know who's in charge. It's the only way to maintain discipline within the program.

why all the hate for Chizick. Good guy who is just unproven as a HC just yet. Lets see what he does and Auburn may not be the job we find that out at considering there is a lot of competition in the state. I tell you what put him in at LSU where there is less instate competiotion and does he bother you with the talent available there. He does me.

This year Cheesedick and the Barn crumble under the too heavy expectations of their moronic fans.

I think the concensus amongst the AU regulars here has been 8-10 wins this season. Is that too heavy?

It's the players I believe he is referring to. It's the assistants' job to take the players and develop them, as Chizik oversees it. I don't think it's a dig at all. He's not referring to Chizik's talent or the assistant's talent. It's the player's talent.
His coaching ability is proven, as a DC. His CEO ability is yet to be determined.

How quickly everyone forgets how good of a DC Chizik was

It's worked for me too. I even gave up my management position to a guy I hired, because he's a better manager than I am. I still make the same money, and have less stress. I win!

You're being just as moronic as the person you're criticizing. Chizik has done a good job recruiting, but that's about it. I'm not saying he can't be a good coach, but it's just as stupid to over-credit him as it to laugh at him. I mean, what did he accomplish last year? A losing record in the SEC and a win in a bowl game he shouldn't have been in over a bad Big 10 team.
He played Alabama close, but he also got pummeled by Arkansas and LSU. And, he lost to Kentucky.
All I'm saying is, give Chizik his credit for recruiting well and bringing a new energy to the Auburn program, but don't act like he's Nick Saban or Urban Meyer because he had one good recruiting class.

I don't even see how this is relevant...looks like piling on to me.
Actually I'm just all sorts of confused by this comment. He's to blame for them going to the game that they shouldn't have, or is it hsi fault they beat NW?
