Zero experience whatsoever at all five OLine spots, at the QB, and at the running back.

Dooley better be a miracle worker.

I agree. That's a tough place to be in. On top of the personnel issues Dooley has kind of a split fan base as well.

i do think dooley is a good fundamentals coach. He was taught quite a bit by his father and the midget saban. If he keeps things simple i think with the raw talent the vols have, they will be able to compete.

for the record, this situation would've been just the same if kiffin had stayed. fulmer screwed us.

100% correct. Kiffin leaving put us in a bad spot as far as hiring a new coach and recruiting. The recruiting class wasn't as good as we hoped (not a bad ranking but didn't quite fill our needs in my opinion) but it wasn't that bad. If Dooley turns out to be all right, then there really shouldn't be much of a problem down the road.

I would be interested to know who is the Vol's 1st opponent...

Experience is a valuable component of success without a doubt, but the other side of this coin is that its is not like these guys have never been on the field either.

If I were a Vols fan my biggest concern would be the Oline.

I almost feel sorry for Tennessee. I have a huge personal hatred for them, but their last three seasons and coaching problems would alomst make me pity them, EXCEPT- everyone told them what a douchebag Kiffin was and how he was embarassing the SEC with his juvenile mouth. They defended him in the most absurd manner. Because of that, they lose all sympathy from me (even though I do like their coach)- I hope they lose all their games this year. They ate up his idiotic routines while he was their and they're paying the piper now for believing in that arse clown.

UT-Martin. First four games are all in Knoxville. UT-M, then Oregon, Florida and UAB before going on the road to LSU and UGA.

They shoudl kill UT-M, probably in a manner like they killed WKU last year, which will be a great confidence booster. They could, depending on how the Ducks deal with all of their issues, be 3-1 going to Death Valley the first weekend in October.

You're going to be pleasantly surprised with Dooley imo. He's a good coach. I think he'll win at UT.

I have no reason to think otherwise. I think he will have Tennessee where it needs to be in a few years. Maybe I am just being a idiot homer, but I do have faith in him.

Give Dooley a couple of years and UT will be back in good form. It's probably going to be a rough run next year but I think Dooley will keep it together and keep the ship afloat.

the most important thing is that the majority of your fans actually realize what he's about to have to repair. if not, it'll be that much longer before UT reaches the top again. God forbid your lot knowing what you know.

Vol fans are going to have to be patient with Dooley. He is a good coach, but you probably wont see it much this year. Give it time folks.

I certainly hope so. Looking at his record, there isn't much to go on, but 3 years at a small school like La Tech isn't really much time to make a huge name for yourself. 17-20 isn't encouraging, but I don't doubt it would have improved over time, even if it didn't ever get great.

I like him more than candidates like Cutcliffe and Muschamp. (You may think I'm crazy for saying I'd take him over Muschamp, but I think he, like Mack Brown, in my opinion, is very overrated and living off an almost unfair recruiting base.) I like him more than those hires because although I'm not very confident in Dooley, I'm not sure he can't win here. I'm very confident in saying neither of those other candidates would have much success here.

I do feel better reading the recommendations of a lot of the LSU fans here. I hope you're right. When the hire was made, I was pretty upset, but I'm certainly feeling better about it now.

I will be happy as hell with 7 wins this year. Not sure if we get there though. The middle part of our schedule is just brutal.
