SEC looks like it will get 7 hosts.

Texas, Texas A&M, Auburn and Georgia are probably locks.

Alabama, Ole Miss, State, Florida, Oklahoma fighting for three spots.

The B1G looks like it will have three with UCLA, USC and Nebraska

The ACC will probably have three (maybe 4) - Georgia Tech and UNC are definite and Florida State, Virginia or Boston College will get a third.

Kansas is going to host out of the Big 12, Oregon State will host

Who gets the 16th host?

An eighth SEC team?
A fourth ACC team?
A Sun Belt team (USM or Coastal) - USM has a top 8 RPI and a No. 6 SOS but they are four games behind Coastal in the SBC.

How is Alabama in contention, and Tennessee isn't? They have the same overall and conference records, but Tennessee has the series win over them. Either they both are in contention or neither

I mean, maybe, but Tennessee has the head-to-head. Wins should matter, plus RPI is going to change so much before the postseason that it doesn't make sense to project using it. Guess it doesnt matter too much

Pretty much every other metric is secondary to RPI. If the season ended right now Bama is hosting and Tennessee is traveling.

I was just spit balling. I've got no idea how, or why, it will work out. Right now, just win.

This is how I rank them.

Mississippi State
34-10 (13-8 SEC)
RPI 15
SOS 30
Quad 1: 6-7

Strengths: 4th place in SEC, Top 5 ELO, Sweep of Ole Miss
Weaknesses: Losing Record vs. Q1 (but 10 remaining games could change that dramatically)

Ole Miss
31-14 (11-10 SEC)
RPI 11
SOS 5
Quad 1: 10-11

Strengths: Top 5 SOS, Top 11 RPI
Weaknesses: Swept by State, USM and State in contention to host (will committee give three host spots to the state of Mississippi?)

Florida
29-16 (11-10 SEC)
RPI 14
SOS 1
Quad 1: 13-10

Strengths: 13 Q1 wins lead nation
Weaknesses: 3 Q4 losses

Alabama
29-16 (10-11 SEC)
RPI 7
SOS 2
Quad 1: 13-9

Strengths: SOS, 13 Q1 wins leads nation
Weaknesses: 3-7 in Last 10, SEC losing record

Oklahoma
29-14 (11-10 SEC)
RPI 18
SOS 10
Quad 1: 5-9

Strengths: Winning SEC record
Weaknesses: RPI could be a little better. 5-9 against Q1

Ole Miss has been on fire lately, and gave UGA all they wanted this weekend. Looking forward to the series against both them and MSU.

State finishes with Texas, Auburn and A&M and has a midweek against Ole Miss. They have a real shot at playing their way into a national seed or could drop to a No. 2 seed somewhere.

Warren Nolan has them predicted to go 5-4 which would finish with a No. 7 RPI. 6-3 in the last three series and a win over Ole Miss in Pearl will probably give them a national seed. Conversely, if they go 4-6 they could drop out of the hosting picture if Florida and Alabama get hot at the end.

5-5 /6-4 and they are probably a host.

A&M finishes with Auburn, OM, and MSU. Tough home stretch as well

Hogs could still work their way in or out of hosting. That said I have low confidence that we will do a whole lot to help our cause but 3 series wins to close the year might do it. Who knows.

Tennessee has 8 Q1 wins. They have 9 Q1 + Q2 wins.

It looks like wins do matter.

Actually prefer to go on the road. This team doesn't deserve to host and they are shitty at home anyway. It would just be more aggravating if they lose their own regional.

Because people just don’t like Tennessee.

Blame Tony V.

State has 3 really tough series left we need to win 4 or 5 games out of 9 to host I think

People dont like winners. Thats why no one has opinions on the Aggies. They have no wins. Vitello was one of the best things to happen to college baseball possible. Anyone who denies that doesnt understand numbers

Does that game count towards anything at all? Or just not conference standings?

In the past, yes. This year they’re introducing DSR and KPI to the committees decision, though, and that can look pretty disparate for some teams.

For example, UGA is sitting at 19 in RPI and 12 in KPI but 8 in DSR
