Jake Mangum explains in the locker room afterwards how it all unfolded.

One of the greatest SEC baseball players of all time! And a really good dude as well it seems. If you don't root for Jake, you are probably an Ole Miss fan. Which is fair.

He is one of my favorite all time players from any team.

I remember strolling into the Dude for the last series of the year as the #1 team and getting stomped when he was playing. We couldn't get him out.

I remember him talking about the amount of coaches allowed on staff in his postgame press conference after his last game in Omaha.

Great dude and also, an impressive throw by Mangum. Props to the brother also.

Years ago, I analyzed his stats in his 15 or so games against Ole Miss. I don't exactly remember, but I think he hit about .580 something and stole 20 bases or something stupid like that.

I feel like most ball players are willing to throw a ball to the kids in the stands from time to time.

All-time great. I hate getting out of the minor leagues took him so long and it was completely unjustified, but glad he is making the most of his time in the bigs.

He's a good guy.

In the era of the transfer portal, it will be a tough one to ever break his SEC hits record. 353 broke it, but he ended up with 383. That's 96 hits a season for four years. The season leader last year had 93.

I am an Ole Miss fan and I've followed Jake his entire career. I think he hit over .400 against Ole Miss over 4 years. He absolutely killed us every chance he got.

He was incredible at State, and he had something like a 5th round draft grade. I never could understand it. He could hit, field, steal bases, etc.

And I asked a former minor leaguer friend who had a low level scouting position why Mangum wasn't getting any attention. And he said: Because he doesn't hit enough home runs.

That was it.

I'm proud to see he finally broke into the majors and I hope he has a long career.

He was nails against us. Always. Hell of a player. I do enjoy watching him play not against us now. Great guy and great Mississippian.
