March 8, 2019 - LSU announced that Wade was indefinitely suspended amid the FBI's probe. Tony Benford was named interim head coach at LSU during the suspension
March 9, 2019 - LSU wins game vs Vanderbilt in Benford's first game as head coach this caps off the SEC regular season championship
March 15, 2019 - LSU loses to #8 seed Florida in the SEC Tournament
March 21, 2019 - LSU as 3 seed in the east beats #14 Yale
March 24, 2019 - LSU beats #6 seed Maryland to advance to the Sweet 16
March 29, 2019 - LSU loses by 17 to #2 seed Michigan State
April 14, 2019 - LSU lifted Wade's suspension
So just to re-iterate Will Wade has never made it past the 2nd round that was Tony Benford who got to the sweet 16

Didn’t he win in the first round at LSU in 2021?
In looking back at Wade’s NCAA tourney record at LSU, it is interesting/strange that 4 of his 5 LSU teams made or would have made (Covid year) the NCAA tournament, yet he only coached the team in 1 NCAA tournament out of those 4 appearances.

Kudos for a great thread.
I would point out that not only did Will Wade not make it to the sweet 16, he didn’t win the SEC.
LSU and Tennessee were tied going into the last weekend. Tennessee lost. LSU, coached by Benford, won and clinched the regular season SEC title.
LSU just spent $200 million to hire a head football coach with no SEC titles and zero playoff appearances and a head basketball coach with no SEC titles and zero sweet 16 appearances.
I would point out that not only did Will Wade not make it to the sweet 16, he didn’t win the SEC.

While true that neither coached in those particular postseason games, it’s very disingenuous. Kiffin had a team make the playoffs, and Wade had a team that made the Sweet16.
