Let’s keep dancing boys! Good vibes only in the thread. This has been a great season and we’re not done yet. We’ve got great players and an awesome coach. Let’s get one more win and head up to Chicago.

“20 years to see New York reflecting on subway train. 20 more I’ll be 44 head back to Tampa Bay. I killed a man there in spite. When he died….i took his place.
Goodnight Chicago I killed man to make you love me”

One thing I noticed watching TT live is they gamble in the passing lanes. They are trying to jump passes for steals. We need to be aware of that and not throw the ball away. Let them be sloppy on D and take advantage

We've had some struggles against teams that grab on us and play the pass lanes. Passers got to be aware and dribble drivers got avoid getting cut off on a pivot foot in a bad spot on the court.

They used to teach the bounce pass years ago. I seldom if ever see a Bama player use the bounce pass in these type situations

What's with the late tip-off? 8:45? Damn I got to get up early.

A lot of this game can be won by rebounding. We have a strong size advantage against them. Most of their position size on the roster comes from guys that don't play. Their big is softer than Sherrell, but their guards crash effectively. If we shot watch (Like we have a tendency to do) we will lose. If we beat them by double digits (which is very doable) on the glass we will win.

I didn't pay attention to much ball outside our area of operation this season. I know TTU usually runs small but they're typically a pretty physical, blue collar, diving on the floor for every loose ball type of outfit.
I think this is still a manhood check sort of game. We got outworked by Beard's Ole Miss 2 of the last 3 games despite having a massive size advantage in each game. We blew them out when everything was dropping from deep in the 1 win.
We need our dudes to accept the manhood test.

If our game is as entertaining as the Vandy/Nebraska game, I might not survive! I hope we can dictate the pace and win on the boards. And now we wait.....
Gonna be a long time until tipoff.

Ken Pom OFF / DEF / OVERALL
Bama: 3 / 66 / 17
TX Tech: 10 / 33 / 19
Evan Miya OFF / DEF / OVERALL
Bama: 7 / 60 / 23 (18th with Holloway)
TX Tech: 24 / 41 / 27
Bama odds to win: 55%
Miya also loves Christian Anderson for Texas Tech and has him as a top 15 player nationally, but without Toppin who is a top 30 efficiency guy it’s gonna take them finding someone else to complement him to make a run.
Also worth noting that losing Holloway from an efficiency standpoint is crushing as Miya has him as the 37th best player in the nation leaving us with Philon at 25, Sherrell at 76 and Allen at 101.

Fwiw, I really dont like a lot of his metrics. Can fully explain it, but it seems like they miss a lot of information. 0% chance Anderson is that much better than Philon.
Like, his charts about who has played the best against good competition says Bama is bad against good teams. But I can only think of 2 games Bama was truly out of, Arizona and UF. Played everyone else close or won. Gonzaga and Purdue were close till the final minute and the late fouling pushed the gap wider via freethrows.

I think basketball metrics particularly defensive individual metrics are directional at best.
Like how do you know whose fault it was when someone gets beat because they had help responsibility and didn’t get there in time off a pick? Data isn’t going to show that effectively.
But top line team metrics are pretty accurate at this point and whether Anderson is 15th or 59th he can play.
And it’s pretty clear Holloway was one of the most effective offensive players in the country and that we will need guys like Wrightsell and Allen to do more without him to remain a top 5 offense against elite defenses that were already giving us hell in big games.
Thankfully without Toppin, Tech by the numbers is just a really good, but not elite defensive team and we should be able to get off shots at least on paper.

We’re going to need Wrightsell to figure it the hell out sooner rather than later. We’ve been winning in spite of him lately.
2-17 from 3 last three games

Wrightsell's next miss will come in April.

The deeper you go in March, the more experience typically rises to the top. It’s been that way for many years and NIL hasn’t changed that.
Holloway was our only “main contributor” that was an upperclassman, as Philon, Sherrell, and Allen are all underclassman. We will almost certainly need our upperclassman role players to show up and play well if we are going to win this game (Wrightsell, Mallette). Need them to combine for something like 8/12 from 3 with double digit rebounds and a few assists/steals. Need our seniors to show up tonight.
