Team is really struggling thus far. Pompey has struck out 26 times in 47 ABs so far. :

The left side of our infield is killing us.

An infield platooning Pompey, Brumbaugh, and Souza at 3B and SS isn’t going anywhere. Those guys are all automatic outs who are sub .200 hitters.

Pompey looks so lost. 0-4 with 4 K’s today. Similar to Diggs and Slavens, he looks like a guess hitter just flailing wildly at low and away.

This is the dropoff in our lineup. Robinett is our 6 hole hitter and hitting .310. After that it’s Souza at .196, Pompey at .188, and Brumbaugh at .156.

Brumbaugh has to sit until he can prove it in the mid week games. Not only does he suck at the plate but he’s making a lot of errors.

An argument can be made that the other 2 are just slumping. They both have hit at this level before but haven’t found themselves after an injury.

Hitting is a joke.

With the way things are going I think it makes sense to put your two best hitters at 3/4. Something like:

Ruiz
Niu
Helfrick
Kozeal
Stewart
Aloy
Robinett
Souza
Rutenbar

Don’t ask me how this would work in the field.

Rutenbar should most definitely be in the lineup.

Hopefully get Stewart back. Just maybe Gaek is hot.

Brumbaugh is a front runner of the John Bolton award.

Haven't got to watch many games.

Are we just watching strikes and swinging at trash?

It's a little bit of everything. We have guys in the lineup right now that can't hit the strikes they do swing at, and when they do make contact it's harmless.

Dang.. well hopefully one or two of the guys struggling will snap out of it and become more productive at the plate.

I've seen MUCH worse teams make Omaha under DVH, but this is definitely not going to be one of those years where we're front-running most of the season. Probably only going to be hosting a regional if at all. Gonna be one of those teams we just hope gets hot at the right time.

Seems like ol' Nate Thompson is gonna have to earn his money this year. Have to generate runs, so unless the HR numbers go up, small ball and simple base hits will need to be a priority for certain players.

Having three guaranteed outs stacked in order in the line up when Arkansas has decent pitching has happened for the past 23 years.

When they have subpar pitching it's the 27 Yankees taking the plate.

There have been several hitting coaches "responsible" for this, they are hitting coaches not miracle workers.

It doesn't take a miracle to force kids to change their approach.

How about working on the basics for awhile, get them to focus on putting the ball in play instead of swinging for the fence every time.

Hard to gain confidence when they continuously strike out with a terrible plate approach.

Haven't watched baseball on any level in the past 30 years?

Everyone remembers McGuire, Sosa, and Bond.

No one wants to be a Tony Gwynn.

You can say the same about pitchers and spin rates that have them working on their second tommy john before their 30th birthday compared to Maddux who stuff was nothing spectacular.

You can go to basketball and ask does everyone on the court need to shoot the three?

Until the pros quit drafting and putting emphasis on the hero stuff, everyone is going to try to be the hero.

Oh I know.. Analytics rule the day.

I don't know if it's my age, but NBA is an awful product to watch now. Flopping, 3pt chucking, no consistent post play, constant traveling that never gets called. NBA viewership has had a steady decline for the past 10 years.
So at least I'm not alone on that one.

MLB went exit velo around 2015. Changed the game completely. Strangely enough viewership went up. But chicks dig the long ball am i right...

I understand that hitting the ball hard and high is the best approach for success. But in college, it's clear that some of these kids need to go back to the basics to get in some sort of rhythm.
