Steven Pearl is in the middle of his first season with the Tigers, currently sporting a record of 16-14 and on the NCAA Tournament bubble.
After a 32-6 season and right before this year began, Bruce Pearl stepped down and his son was promoted from associate head coach to head coach.
Anyone who yelled “nepotism” was exactly right, as the former coach admitted it. He’s a full-on fan now.
“Right now, Auburn is on the bubble,” Bruce Pearl told Dan Dakich.
“Looks to me like they have to win one more to get in.”
“That’s objectively how I feel. Am I rooting for my son to make the NCAA Tournament? Of course I am. Did I help my son get the (Auburn) job, nepotism? Of course, I did.”
Whether they make the NCAA Tournament or not, Auburn’s program is certainly feeling the heat. ESPN’s Paul Finebaum said things have gone “very badly” for Steven Pearl.

Auburn being good at basketball always felt wrong. Things are starting to heal.
(Yes, LSU is currently much worse).

He also helped Golden get the UF job. Time will tell if Steven works out or not.

If LSU doesn't make a coaching change, your new AD is admitting LSU isn't a serious basketball program.

Because that 50-year period between Joel Eaves and Bruce Pearl when they were ranked like a dozen times is more of the norm.

Sadly, it is not. Never has been. We've just been fortunate to have had a couple of coaches over the years who brought the AD in kicking and screaming.

Does this mean buyout is voided?

In other news water is wet. Any parent that doesn’t help their own kids is a sorry parent. How many coaches have had kids as assistants? Bowden was good at it.

I guess if they so choose.

He sucks but that costs money. Auburn’s situation is an easy fire with cause.

Can’t hate the guy for that. He is Auburn basketball.
That program has always been a complete joke without him
He had more final 4s at Auburn than all of the SEC schools minus the select below few.
Florida
Kentucky
Arkansas
LSU
