USA Today's Blake Toppmeyer believes it's time for both programs to pack it up and rejoin the Big 12 as soon as possible, leaving the Texas A&M Aggies and Texas Longhorns, with whom they joined, behind.

Toppmeyer pitched the move within the confines of a larger pitch to ultimately rebuild the Big East football conference and restore regionality in the sport. Getting California's programs out of the Big Ten and ACC was a big component of the pitch.

I agree.

I thought I had lost that "hopeful puppy at the shelter" feeling.

At this point there are only like 1-2 Big XII opponents I would even care about.

Stupid.

I would be thrilled to go to Stillwater and Ames for football. They were both awesome hosts for visitors.

Hard pass on going anywhere else.

The SEC is great. It pushes Mizzou to spend, we are competitive in both major sports, and no thanks to kstate or Iowa state or any of that lame traveling nonsense.

Silly article is silly.

Is the author of this article going to pay us the difference in the payout SEC vs Big 12? Money talks bitch.

I like playing the SEC teams over almost all B12.
Even if that weren't the case, the money has to better for us, or why go?

What about Cincinnati? Or Houston? Or Central (or is it South) Florida? Or TCU? Or West Virgina? No? You are right - this is not the Big12 we left behind. Although they did at least add a few enticing travel destinations in Utah (might get some skiing in - won't be games on Sunday) and Arizona.

I think the article is suggesting that "conferences" should be regional, but what he is suggesting (and others have too) is essetially forced geographic alignment, which will in essence eliminate conferences (or at least remove any/all financial advantages a strong conference provides) I think a problem Mizzou fans have is we just have never really embraced being one of the "haves" - which we are now, but we wouldn't be in this regional model.

No thanks, SEC is the best league and a return to the little 12 would not help sell tickets.

Done with kS and IA trips...and that's a good thing.

This article is wrong on so many levels. If we all stepped back and even considered moving again, it'd obviously be the Big 10 - makes more sense in terms of academics, size of institutions, and geography. The Big 12 is not an option, we've outgrown that conference.

Everyone needs to have it in the back of their minds the next logical step in all this is a new football NCAA alternative just for the football schools. When this happens, they will create regional conferences with equal payouts for all members. Very likely this happens at some point and when it does we may very well end up in something similar to the old Big 8.

If we can get the same $ but have something like the big 8 as our schedule, I think we should be just fine with that.

Hit me. Burn me with matches. Throw me in the deep end of the pool.

I wish we were in the Big 10.

Do we have to do all of this in order?

Also, the big 10 idea is gross.
