Arkansas students chose the school colors cardinal and white back in the 1890s. Now there are always folks wanting black as a defacto third color. Personally, I don’t care for it as our little brother Arkansas State University’s official colors are indeed red and black. While black is a fine color, I don’t like that the CLC essentially chose for us.

Anyway, how do you Bama and OU fans feel about adding black to your official colors?

Black is a once a year thing. Unless you’re the Cocks.

Auburn doesn’t do black. Navy works just fine.

Auburn has outstanding colors, my favorite besides Texas and the Dolphins.

Red and white?

Texas hasn't done black either. In fact I can't recall Texas football doing any type of alternate uniforms. Texas will occasionally do a throwback uniform for a game about every other decade.

Interesting note on the mascot Razorback

Texarkana Arkansas High School (AHS) reportedly began using the Razorback mascot as early as 1873. This date predates the University of Arkansas's formation of its first football team in 1894 and its eventual adoption of the Razorback nickname in 1910.
Key Historical Timeline
1873: Arkansas High School first adopted the Razorback mascot.
1894: The University of Arkansas (U of A) formed its football team, originally using the Cardinal as its mascot.
1910: The U of A officially changed its mascot to the Razorback after coach Hugo Bezdek remarked his team played like a "wild band of Razorback hogs" following a win over LSU in 1909.
