If Indiana can win a natty in football, why can’t Aggy?

So this topic got me curious, since 1980 what are the best programs that havent won a natty? ATM and Oregon come to mind as teams that definitely could and put forth consistent effort(obviously Indiana proved anyone can) but barring teams that have won one since 1980 who you think has a legit shot at a natty?

Bad coaching hires post Slocum, financial mid management, and lack of leadership.
All Slocum needed was a competent OC. Firing him set the program back 20 years.

A&M has underperformed. Without question.
But there’s a reason it took Indiana going undefeated to win a NC. Had they lost one, maybe two games it probably doesn’t happen.
The same schools are getting the benefit of the doubt routinely and are supported by the media. Look at who has won over the last 20 or so years. Hell, Notre Dame basically got to write their own rules for getting into the CFP. And it was just a few years ago (2020?) that they got the nod over A&M.
A&M has accountability but there are biases that exist so it’s an uphill battle from the start.

See I disagree with this, one loss Indiana 1000 percent still makes playoffs, I feel 2 loss Indiana probably does as well

If Texas Tech, SMU and TCU can make the CFP, why can't Rice?
