I said it. I'll admit I was very wrong about him. He never should've been fired, and Auburn would be better off now if he had stayed.

Gene Chizik
Gus Malzahn
Butch Thompson
Bruce Pearl

Show me an Auburn AD that made better hires than him.

Now we have an AD that thinks he the smartest dude in the room (remember the recruiting blunder of last year), and a guy that sells our home games in the name of NIL. Just a joke.

I remember he was hated so bad here and I liked him.

When he gave Gus Malzahn a blank check and said go get Muschamp that got my dick hAUrd.

I think baseball guys mainly hated Jay Jacobs.

The entire athletic department reeks of complacency as little bro… milk the alumni and keep those paychecks coming

His AD was as often a mess as not and he corporatized Auburn to a painful level.

That said, we've been far worse with AD selections since he left.

He did his best. I think I miss that era more than Jacobs himself, but he deserves a lot of credit for those hires

I don’t hate the Stephen Pearl hire - I just hate the results.

With all that Bruce did for our pathetic basketball program - it would be an insult to pass his son over. His leash should be short.

He is a young coach but he is as seasoned as he can possibly be.

We are going to find out a lot about the seriousness of our AD in the next two years. Because this year and next will be the worst results in the modern era of Auburn basketball.

What are we gonna do next? How soon are we going to do it?

We lack a big man and team chemistry. Total rebuild year. If Stephen can go out and get a dominant center, and give these guys some to time to gel, we are looking at this a whole different way.

We don't have a reliable consistent PG either.

And he corrected both of them.

At the time, we dealt with Chizik and the free fall he was in, Tony and Sonny. He may have recovered, but it was a miserable start. Worse than Cohen so far. And this year's basketball team is on Bruce with his recruiting. He has even stated he wishes he would have retired last year.

Jay made some tough decisions some good, some bad, but a net positive I think for his tenure. He
still has the highest paid pension in the history of the state of Alabama. If memory serves, they changed the pension rules and he was able to be grandfathered into the old way while taking advantage of the new way and it resulted in a massive pension… something like a half million dollars a year just in pension retirement. Auburn made him a very wealthy man.

I am neutral on him. Reality is an AD can only hire who is available, so there is luck involved. I dont think Cohen is terrible.

Which was what he was told.

Or at least that was the story line. Which is far less walking and talking on his own, than this bit of nostalgia is implying, and far more rubber stamping of what he was told.

Nice guy though.

And not trying to trash his worth and achievements, anymore than his disappointments. But I got trashed last week for offering up a restrained eulogy about Gus, so not presenting another (so soon and) before his demise.

Hate on the current AD while missing a previous AD, that was hated while AD. Ironic. Nothing new though. Similar to how the backup QB is always the most popular. JABA

We almost didn't hire Bruce either. Barkley had to lobby hard for him to Jacobs. According to Bruce, his interview was attrocious.

Jay showed big balls with Golloway. I liked that.

Golloway was a very polarizing here.

I also liked his response to Selena Roberts.

I am in the minority but I still like the Jaybotron as well.
