Alabama went to 9 National Championship Games under Saban. Alabama lost a semifinal game in 23, lost a de facto semifinal game against Florida in 08 in the SEC Championship Game and lost a de facto semifinal game against Auburn in 2013.
So 9 National Championship Games and damn near 12 of them.
One last crazy fact, Saban's 3 most talented teams on paper, 2010, 2019 and 2022 didn't make any championship game. Mainly due to injuries.

Got beat by LSU in 2010 and 2019 coming off bye weeks with minimal injuries. Les Miles straight up out coached Saban in that 2010 game. That TE reverse on 4th and 1 that nearly scored a touchdown was a head scratcher for Saban.

That's pretty ridiculous. Would've been more incredible without the Clemson run, because Clemson was the only team on Bama's level in 2016 and 2018. Bama would've plowed through everybody else and Saban and Bama would've had 7 national titles in 10 years.
Nostalgic Bama posts like these from Bama fans are cool. It's the Bama fans on here who think that the Alabama football program in 2026 still has some great mystique because of Saban's sucess are the ones who are delusional. Saban still has an office in the football facility, I think, but that's about it.

How did it make you feel watching UWashingtonEast beat the hell out of LSU two years in a row 62-22?
Alabama had as many playoff appearances in 2025 as LSU has in the history of their program. Then you capped off the season by losing to Houston.

Injuries is a weird way to spell Cam Newton and Nick Fairley.
Also, Colt got injured in 09, didn't even win the West in 11, wouldn't have made the title game in 12 but for Ohio State's probation, didn't even win the West in 17, and everyone knows 20 doesn't count.
So really 15, the worst of all of them ironically, is the only legit one.
