How is a coach asking a player what their buyout is any different than an AD inquiring about a coach's buyout during a coaching search?

Player was no longer in the portal so......no communication and for sure no offering of $$$

One has Jimmy Sexton as a bridge.

One uses an agent, Pete Golding just fires off a text.

It’s all nonsense. It sounds to me like they say, you can’t transfer if you just got in the portal or only during this period. Whats the difference from saying you can’t transfer for one or two years?
They should be able to get contacted and find a better opportunity if they want to just like everyone in the workforce can get offers at any point.

This is the NCAA's way of trying to pretend they still have some power.
They will eventually have to just let players do what they want and just take their share of the money.

True. But whereas coaches have contracts through the school and are employees of said school involving their agents, that went to law school, players are usually repped by their uncle “agent” that more than likely has no contractual law education. So the feelers go through the coaches agent while the players are not employees getting shitty advice from their “agent”.

So, that’s worse than contacting a coach in the midst of a season?

Think about how collections agencies typically have to go through an attorney if the debtor has filed for bankruptcy
IANAL but I feel like if freedom of speech can be restricted for bankruptcy purposes it could be restricted for other purposes too. Not sure if this is similar enough though
Edit: thanks I stand corrected lol

The First Amendment is only a restriction on government. It does not apply to private parties.

There are no rules against tampering with coaches? That’s one theory maybe.

Exactly. They won’t and can’t do shite. Unless they want to get blown the frick out in real court once again.
LSU fans desperately want a PR win after getting absolutely shite on and dragged for the last 3 months.
Not realizing their coach and their fanbase are the most unlikable in college football.

Enforceable contracts would fix a lot of this BS.
