I have no doubt there are many more players and refs involved. Way too much money.

We’re gonna have to rediscover as a society that gambling is very bad.

Reading that article, I was wondering how our leading scorer go so many quick fouls that were ticky-tacky.

Some of the problems aren't even coming from organized crime, but giving betting tips to friends and family on some small statistic like number of a player's rebounds or some other factor in the game.

Prop bets should be banned. They are the biggest part of the problem, and it is much easier to have a friend or family member to place a bet that you will have 1 less rebound than what is called for. Actual point shaving is a little more difficult to work, but all the prop bets are just too enticing. Clean that up, and it will go a long way.

I’m shocked at how many of my friends make these sucker bets.

I was thinking more on football.

But how many times this season in basketball has one of our players just turned the ball over without even being guarded with less than 2 minutes on the clock in the game or just falling down for no reason turning over the ball in the process

This gambling problem seems noticeable at the lesser schools that cant afford NIL. Schools like Furman.

The guys we recruit aren't going to jeopardize a check and the NBA.

The ones that get caught make whale bets. For example, if an average bet handle on a prop of “ball” or “strike” first pitch of inning is $34,522, and the book sees a surge to $1,450,998 with on bet being 80% of that, then they know the fix is in.
