The year was 1909. LSU beat Alabama 12-6 in a thriller in Birmingham, AL.

It was Alabama’s only loss of the season as they finished 5-1-2. They also had a 0-0 tie against Ole Miss and a 5-5 tie against Tulane.

LSU finished the season 6-2, their only blemishes being a 16-0 loss against Arkansas and a 15-6 loss against Sewanee.

That win tied the series at 3-3. Alabama then went on a 9-0-3 run over the next 12 games and it hasn’t been close since.

I was worried that the LSU game that’s played daily in your head somehow got canceled today. I’m relieved to see that it didn’t. Who’s winning today? You really need to give score updates. The board would appreciate it.

March 4th 1909, suspected LSU sympathizer William Howard Taft was inaugrated as 27th US President.

One of his more famous quotes reportedly has LSU undertones :

""Substantial progress toward better things can rarely be taken without developing new evils requiring new remedies" William Howard Taft

Still pissed about the refs in the Sewanee game.
