Interesting tidbit I just read:

70% of the starters at Indiana are 5th or 6th year seniors .

Average age of starting lineup is 23.2 years old.. thats the average??

Now do Oregon ;

40% of starters are 5th or 6th year players

Average age: 22.3 years old

And finally lets compare
Alabama:

25% of starters are 5th year Srs, no 6th year starters

Average age of Starters?
20.8 years old

All I know for sure.. is 24 year old me would have kicked 20 year old me’s butt???????

Miami?

22.6 years old on average.. might be a good game next Monday night

New age of CFB

Teams made up of veteran transfers is the formula everyone is going to try to emulate

Yep.. sucks though

I preferred the old days when College Football was about College age students playing football. Not grown arse men playing in college

What did people think of Cignetti when he was at Bama?

For all the talk about Indiana's 2 and 3 stars, it's slightly different when you're talking about guys that were playing college football when Bryce Young was in high school.

He was there early in Saban’s tenure. Just another coach on a staff of what turned out to be future head coaches

Indiana got 5 starters that graduated High School the same year as Bryce Young. Bryce is in his 3rd year of Professional Football

They got one starter that graduated when Bryce was a junior…. In High School

The Covid year in 2020 is what has caused a lot of this. The NCAA gave all players a blanket exemption and now the result is a bunch of older players still playing.

It’s not going to stop. When Pavia can sue for a 7th year and will probably win according to what I’ve read..

Miami wil slow them down no doubt but I don’t think Miami's offense is good enough to beat Indiana.

The star thing means nothing when you are getting guys that played 2-3 years somewhere else. Imagine getting Josh Jacobs after 2 years at Bama and saying he still just a 3 star. Or getting 4th year Baker Mayfield and saying he was just a lowly walk on.

Someone tweeted “Teams take on personality of the coach. Cignetti is a killer”. Marquis Maze reposted and said “Cig is not a killer at all I played for him he was soft as s**+”

Take that for what it’s worth.

That is hilarious.

This age thing is significant. I noticed the last U. Conn team to win basketball was older also. Maybe success depends on keeping players or transferrin some experience. Concentrate on the trenches and defense and use the portal for the so called skilled positions. Mendoza and Newton transferring in was huge for their teams. Good coaches will adapt, but long time success will be hard to maintain.

It's not just age it's also experience. Them being an NFL-aged roster is bad enough but when you combine the fact that over two-thirds of their starters have 5-6 years of collegiate experience that makes it all the more worse. It was essentially men against boys out there in Pasadena 10 days ago.

Is that what we want college football to be? Adults masquerading as college kids? If so then I bow out.

Indiana's punter is 27 years old. The punter they're getting in the portal to replace him is 29 fricking years old.

The real funny part is when everyone tries to mimic Indiana and stops recruiting HS and the NCAA makes some rule fixing NIL and all these college teams have trashed their HS recruiting pipelines

Indiana (WTF?) vs. Miami (ACC What)

It is exactly what ESPN, who influence everything including the 12 Team playoffs, want to see.

NFL like parity and expansion of the market.
