Wife and I met Mr. Penny in Glendale after we went out to dinner. What a nice, nice man.
Big game the next day plus Snomageddon in Atlanta...we were lucky to get home...did not leave the house for close to a week after we did.

We got in the rental car after the game, drove back to Vegas all night. Arrived at the rental car return 45 mins before our flight. We ran to the gate, barely made it on the plane. Slept the entire flight home then drove from the airport to Gainesville in that solid ice roads.
Man what a damn trip that was. When we got home we slept like crazy

Glad you made it. At the time, I lived just a little ways off the interstate near Suwanee and couldn’t get out of the subdivision because of the ice.

Drago needs to help us AU fans again make trips to exotic locales.

I was just up the road from you. My house was just off McEver road in Flowery Branch. I used my 4wd on the Tahoe to get home from the airport. It was stacked everywhere
Im not going to lie, that drive through the desert to Vegas was one of the the hardest I have ever made. I was so tired from tailgating and being at the game. We didnt even get on the road till midnight . Then a 5 hour drive through the night to vegas. I think our flight was 6am. My wife of course went to sleep so I didnt have any one to keep me awake

We were the second house in our neighborhood from the main road, so we did not have a problem, but the house is on the other end of our neighborhood had to come up and down some pretty big hills and struggled.
I was shocked when we got on the road from the airport and the main roads were still as bad as they were

Our flight got canceled so we ended up just staying in Glendale and spent the next three days driving around sedona and grand canyon running into all the other auburn fans stuck out there. Was awesome.
The midnight to 6 am drive from Pasadena to las Vegas was the worst.

I think our room was in Scottsdale. At any rate, we were staying probably 45 minutes from the stadium. Dinner the night before was at a restaurant near the stadium. Saw Mr. Penny in that area sometime after (or maybe it was before dinner?).
We had planned to stay the night and fly back the next morning. Got back to the room so jacked that we couldn't sleep. I think we watched a replay of the game twice while we were packing while fighting fatigue. Early morning flight got delayed due to a scheduling error with the crew or maybe they timed out. Every Auburn fan we saw in the airport, including us, had literally lost their voices screaming the night before.
Missed our connection in Detroit due to the delay and were rebooked for sometime the next day. Ended up getting on another flight later that night (January 11)...777 to Atlanta with maybe 50 people on the plane. Missed connection/delay turned out to be a huge blessing...got back so late that we may not have seen 10 cars on the way home.
I remember scraping about an inch or more of snow and ice off the car windows. Interstates were not really bad at all. Once we got off 285, roads were a solid sheet of ice. Our house in Tucker sat on top of a steep hill, and we had to go down a steep hill first. I made sure to come down the hill fast enough that we could coast up the next one. Pulled in the driveway and parked the car for 5 days.
Good time, but I hope I never have a trip home like that again.

My flight out of Atlanta to Vegas was around 6:00 AM on the Sunday before the game so it was before the snow started that day. Had two planned layover days in Vegas post-game so by the time I got back to Atl it was still a mess but manageable to at least get back home. Had to scrape about 14-in of collected snow off of my car in long-term parking with my gloved hands before I could start making that slow and careful drive back to the northern burbs though.

It was a lot of fun drinking Scottsdale dry the night before and tapping the stadium completely dry by the end of the 3rd quarter. Scottsdale had a bar set up in old town that was the “Auburn” bar and one across the street was the Oregon one. Auburn one ran out of all booze by midnight, so we went over to the Oregon one, planted a flag in the second floor patio, and tapped that bar out by 1:30 or so. Good times man, good times.

I was at home in Tennessee. Had a case of the shingles. I was looking forward to the game.

I was at home as well and frickin pissed Academy didn’t open after the game as advertised with the official gear for the championship. It had barely started snowing in Trussville.

Snow hit Bham airport right before our plane loaded. Couldn't get out. Drove back to Montgomery in a blizzard on I65 then went and celebrated in Auburn the next night

We flew out to vegas Wednesday before the game. Stayed in vegas two days, drove down to Flagstaff and stayed there a few days. While we were there, we drove up to the south rim two days and just basically rode around in the car and checked things out. It was 20 deg and a 40 mph winds. We had on blue jeans and a hoodie.
Nothing there but Auburn fans. We stopped at a cafe for lunch on the south rim and there was about 50 people in there. All of them were Auburn fans. It was like a pep rally with booze. Man that was fun
We stayed at the Embassy Suits in Flagstaff and if you ever have the opportunity to stay there, do it. They had "happy hour" starting at about 6pm and lasted till 9-10pm.
Free drinks, they brought out appetizers and it was a party. Awesome place.
I will alwasy remember that trip. We had a blast and we fricking won the natty.
