How did this team win 11 games?

Was it the great defense?
Explosive kicking game?
Spectacular running backs that carried us all season?
NO!
This team won 11 games because Ty Simpson and several receivers somehow managed to overcome no running game and awful pass protection.
But you dumbasses want to act like Ty is awful and it’s all his fault
His arm was over 70% of the total offense.. he wasn’t perfect by any means.
70% !!! It was all on his arm and 11 times he delivered

I don’t think anyone has blamed Ty for being solely responsible for the 4 losses this season. We’re frustrated because our eyes tell us that there’s potentially better talent on the bench and the coaches, just like last season refuse to make any changes at the position when Ty has struggled. And he’s struggled for most of the last half of the season. All of the “we can’t play a true freshman” nonsense is ridiculous. Michigan is playing a true freshman quarterback. Our guy is just as talented. Also, both quarterbacks when given the chance have outperformed Ty. Tuneup game before Auburn, both backups were better. Last night, Mack nearly doubled Ty’s yardage. Giving Ty complete credit for the last half of the season is also ignorant. Defense carried us in most of those games.

Bringing a freshman QB into that chaos of a pass rush with no running game wasn’t the answer..

Yeah, we were severely undisciplined and played a string of even less disciplined teams. It’s pretty obvious now. It’s amazing that we’re back to hard nosed and disciplined teams with simple schemes and emphasis on execution back in control.
That game felt like we were on the wrong side of the ‘08 blackout game at UGA, only with less points.

They found a groove from middle of September until the South Carolina game.
SEC is clearly a weaker conference than it has been with a lot of teams bunched in the good-but-compromised zone.
Won three games where they had a bounce or two go their way that could have easily went the other way. Lost one game where seemingly every bounce went against them.

No they weren’t!
Mack doubled him in yardage because of a double flea flicker that gained a chunk of yardage.
Also, when Mack entered the game, the game was over! Indiana brought zero pressure on first or second down.. when they did bring it, he was sacked twice maybe 3 times.
Mack threw 2 balls to complete air.. nobody close.
Austin Mack will never beat Russell out of the job.. and he’s not close to being the QB Ty is currently

Leaving Ty in a game with broken ribs and 67 yards passing with zero points was clearly our best option. Putting up a grand total of 7 points in the SEC Championship game with a quarterback that supposedly had a bad back was also the best decision for the player and the team. I suppose we’ll never know if any other option was better because the coaches never made any changes.

Ty threw 2 picks against Eastern frigin Illinois. Mack was 5/5 against them. Russell came in and was perfect against them as well until we got in the red zone and he tried to fit a couple balls in tight windows. They both clearly outperformed Ty that day.
Last night Mack hit a 34 yarder on a throw that I haven’t seen Ty make since the Tennessee game.
Not sure what you’re drinking, but I’ll take 103 yards and 3 points over 67 and ZERO points

Bama had 48 yards rushing total in the final 3 games. They were in the 120s in rushing yards overall and in conference.

The SEC and B1G have swapped places from where they were during the span of 2014-2022 thanks to NIL.
The SEC used to have 2-3 elite teams each year and all garbage while the B1G was made up of mostly pretenders with an occasional good playoff team.
Our “gauntlet” went 0-4 in the bowl season. Yes, I know there were opt-outs, but still. It’s kind of depressing.
Indiana is the exception. Cignetti looks to be the closest to 2008 Saban that I’ve seen, but I’ll wait to judge till we see how he does without a gifted QB.

We peaked in the middle of the season, we were legitimately playing great mid year.
The Tennessee game was the last time we actually looked good though.
By that time it was obvious how utterly deficient we were on offense and defenses schemed against the one thing we could actually do well (medium range passes) and we had no answers.
I'm convinvced if we re-rean our entire schedule again we may go 7-5 or something.

Simpson was definitely not the biggest problem on this team. They won because the SEC teams are not that good.
