CFP vs Final 4 viewership interest with no blue bloods

When the final 4 is a group of hodgepodge teams, tv viewership trends down. Same with MLB playoffs and NBA finals.

But the Super Bowl stays standing regardless

I think the CFP with these 4 teams will be as good as ever as far as outsider fan interest is concerned

The NIL/portal era has basketball "1 and done" vibes. The lack of team/fan cohesion in basketball damages the game.

Football feels like it's cracking with the portal money hunt, but it's still hanging on currently.

Football seems to have weathered the CTE storm (don't hear anyone talk about it much anymore). I also feel like targeting calls are way down in the playoffs too (I saw a few no calls in yesterday's games and I was surprised the UGA one got called)

Is football in America just invincible? I hope so

Since when is Miami not a blue blood? They’ve been in hibernation but they’ve been a blue blood

Oregon has been a good team for 20 years now

And two Cinderellas

Hopefully only the diehard cfb fans tune in. The less money in the sport the better. I would rather all the casual fans go with the nfl and let college football be more of a niche thing again.

Miami is nothing but a bunch of fake fair weather fans. They don't even have a stadium

Tulane, ULL, Nicholls, mcneese...they all have stadiums

They should get a stadium and real fans

Blue Bloods is a perspective. I'm old and they always seemed a newcomer to me even after some championships. Feels like yesterday to me when they beat Nebraska and shocked the country in 84.( of course Osborne screwed that up)

I think the viewership will be good for the final 3 games. You still have two familiar teams in Miami and Oregon, and then you have the underdogs in Indiana and Ole Miss who will pull the Cinderella storylines in media

Viewership would be better if they had Oregon and Ole Miss reversed . Ole Miss vs Minnesota and Oregon vs Miami would be more intriguing match ups .

The CFP has nothing to do with "Blue Bloods"....which of course refers to teams utilizing NIL money to pay players before it was actually legal.

I can't stand watching College Football being destroyed by NIL, but one consolation is that all teams can now pay players, which is leveling the playing field.

Viewership will be much higher now that these Cinderella Teams are playing...

meh, I don't know...I think alot of NFL fans had Patriots fatigue, and now have Chiefs fatigue

no one wants to see the same teams every year, and I think its good for the sport to actually have a mix of teams as opposed to the Alabama/Georgia/Ohio State show every year

This year we could actually have a 1st time Natty winner with Oregon, Indiana, or Ole Miss. We haven't had that since 1996 with Florida

Meh. They had a fantastic 20 year run, but they’ve never seemed like a true blue blood. And they’ve done squat for what? 30 years?

They have to fix the calendar. Games are next Thursday and Friday night. I know they don’t want to go up against the NFL, but it just seems dumb to play these games on Saturdays.

Exactly what I said, if you're 30 years old you probably think Miami is a blue blood tho last night either Fowler or Herbstreit called them a blue blood and that surprised me. If Miami is a blue blood then LSU is.

They could still try to shoe horn Alabama into some type of loser’s bracket.

A 4 loss Alabama team is still deserving of playing in the National Championship

I’m also interested to see how viewership is impacted. I’ve been arguing for a while now that NIL/Portal madness is going to end up dismantling the historic bedrock of college football by neutralizing the blue bloods. What happens when the final four are a mish-mash of teams that haven’t built a large fan base of support?

The regular season numbers showed that the blue bloods still dominate the ratings. I guess we will find out this season about the final four.

JMO, but Miami during the 80s revolutionized the game. I think it was more than just a "20 year run"

In came speed and outstanding QBs, and out went the Wishbone

I heard that last night and thought the same thing.

Miami had a legit dynasty in the 80s...

not taking away from anything LSU has done from 2001-2019...but a good half of those years were dealing with some brutal Alabama losses, ie not really being the top dog in the sport

similar to Alabama, Miami owned the sport for a significant amount of time

as to who's a blueblood and who isn't, who gives a shite?
