NIL and expanding the conference too much with big programs where we cannibalize each other ruined it. Cannibalization leads to regular coaching changes at the top half of the conference because 3-4 losses are unacceptable to them and the quality of coaching hires is steadily diminishing. Many SEC programs cannot afford the NIL that B1G programs can

We are a distant 2nd, and possibly could end up 3rd behind the ACC.

Bowl and playoff records so far.

B1G 5-0
ACC 4-4
SEC 2-4 with one win over another SEC team and lone other win is OM over shitty Tulane.

Looks like 2-5 after today. I expect Indiana to make short work of Alabama Thursday

Hey don’t badmouth Tulane like that. They were the best team in the state of Louisiana this year.

Meh, with all the opt outs and portal, the non-playoff games don’t indicate anything these days.

Dude no one cares if it is not playoffs. Bowl games are meaningless and SEC schools typically have more "opt outs" because we have the most NFL prospects. Tenn has 6 starters opt out for todays game - IL has everyone playing. Playoff record is all we should be looking at measuring conferences.

Do only SEC teams have opt outs and transfers?

Both sides deal with this. No excuse

Exactly.
42% of the playoff teams are from the SEC.
Doubtful that any conference ever gets more representation than that

Houston had no opt outs, LSU had 6 just on defense. It’s not even close to dealing with the same thing. I suspect that the SEC has more opt outs because it has more NFL prospects.

Also, because the SEC has more teams in the playoffs, I would think the rest are playing teams who finished higher in other conferences.

LSU finished 10th in the SEC, played an almost second string defense and backup QB, and lost by 3 to the 3rd place Big 12 team at full strength.

Turns out everyone else could pay as well, let alone pay to bring talent out of the south.

What you’re going to see in the next 5-6 years is a proposal by a smart man backed by PE funding (after the best teams in the ACC are absorbed) to merge the best teams in the B1G and the SEC.

Perspective:

If the top 5 Big 10 teams made the playoffs, Michigan & Southern Cal would have been in.

It was like flipping a switch. There was no transition. Straight from SEC dominating to Big-10.

The SEC is in the gutter.

I have said all season that the SEC is complete trash outside of like 3 maybe 4 teams.

The idea that this conference is still some gauntlet is hilarious. TONS of terrible coaching filling out the ranks
