“I’ve got 85 scholarship players, and the money gets spread around. I don’t get more money, just a watered-down version.” He’s right. What good does it do to bring in 20 more players if you can’t afford to pay them? … When I asked Sark if he planned to bring in another running back, he went on a rant about the credibility of some agents and said, “It’s all so strategic. It’s about need and money and the cost and where’s the market and which agent are you dealing with. Some agents are rational, and some I don’t even know if they are licensed. We have no certification in college like the NFL. An agent may be a college roommate who is throwing out numbers we can’t even deal with. It’s unfortunate. So many factors come into play. What are our needs, and what are our luxuries.”

Sounds smart until there are only four RBs on the roster, 1 gets hurt, and the second one's helmet comes off in the game.

Then some freshman comes in and fumbles.

Sark is right, it’s the biggest shitshow free for all I have ever seen. Even with a full time GM, you can’t possibly hope to deal with any of this. It doesn’t work.

Chances are you aren't bringing in 20 more five stars. You're bringing in fringe scholarship players and giving them a free ride and a chance to develop. I think it'll give teams more flexibility to take JuCo and low (or no) star guys.

Well his lambo shows sure have not helped the situation. Sark helps create the fire and then complains as it consumes him.

I would really push those last 20 spots towards some project players that are 2-3 stars that fit your system but maybe not metrics or measurable to see if they develop.

Texas took quite a few 3 stars late in the process. I’m hoping this was the thinking behind that. It’s expensive to pay 4 and 5 stars to not play while they develop, especially if they ultimately transfer and you get zero production out of them. The 3 stars are affordable projects.

I get that there's a cap on the revenue sharing pool. That said it's troubling if Texas boosters keep their powder dry with NIL. We will know for sure when the transfers start. Texas needs to get an impact rb and at least 3-4 ol.

I noticed this as well and was kinda asking why, but it makes sense to balance the roster.

For what it is worth, rumors swirling that Texas is leading destination for Jadan Baugh. He's a really good RB that is very difficult to bring down and gets a ton of after contact yards.

There are thirteen states that have laws on agents. All of the others say nothing as far as I can find. Those laws vary wildly. Some requiring a license, some not even acknowledging the concept. Some capping percentage for representation, some only implicitly seeming to apply to those in the media/acting industry. A few give mention to athletes. In none is an agent required. The states:

California
Connecticut
Florida
Maryland
Massachusetts
Minnesota (athletes)
Mississippi (athletes)
Missouri (athletes)
New Jersey
North Carolina
Pennsylvannia
Utah (athletes)

105 players makes absolutely zero sense and such a dumb move by NCAA/SEC

With 85 you already have like 10-15-20 players who basically dont play the whole season or play some mop up snaps here or there

With 105 players now you will have 30-35-40 players who basically dont play the whole season or play a few mop up snaps here or there

There's a reaosn the NFL only has 53 on the roster, yes you need more in college as you have to develop younger players; but that number doesnt need to be anywhere close to 105
