LSU Fans. Real Talk. Does it Bother You that Lane Left?

Saw that he couldn't be bothered to stay through the end of the Texas Bowl. Which was obviously a close game. I don't hate Lane and thoroughly enjoyed The Announcement Saga last month. I don't really like LSU but also have no real hatred for them either. This is a real question. It would kind of worry/bother me if a new coach did that at UGA.

No.

It really would not have bothered me had he not shown up at all.

Tempest in a teapot.

Why would anyone care about that?

No I didn’t watch all the game either. He wasn’t coaching or talking to the team that night so what difference does it make. I’m assuming he won’t leave in the middle of a game next year, that might upset some people.

Honestly, it does bother me a bit but I also understand that he is a busy man in the runup to the transfer portal as well. Combined with this not really being his team at the time, I can see a scenario where he may have needed to go to get to other more important things at the time. Successful people are great at prioritizing things and for now, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Fast forward to two years from now and if he's still not successful and winning big games consistently at LSU then we'll look back on him leaving early with a completely different perspective.

By the way, I too have no hatred for UGA. I pull for y'all almost every time unless playing LSU.

It’s always smart to do the opposite experiment. What would have been said if he stayed? “Lane showing his loyalty even when he doesn’t have to”, “really shows character to see him with the team”. Now just take the opposite of those opinions and that’s what LSU fans are secretly thinking but pride won’t let them say it out loud

I personally wouldn't have said anything about it either way because it doesn't matter and I'm not an emotional woman.

Matt Campbell didn't even go to Penn State's bowl game. Who cares?

Nope and most new coaches do the same. Kelly left at half too when he was hired

Think of it this way. He is going to be working 12-16 hours every day with the portal opening up, contacting players he wants to retain, coordinating NIL with the collective, getting his staff together, etc.

It was 2 days after Christmas and he probably had all kinds of family at the house. Give him a break and let him relax before the storm.

Too many people made way too big of a deal about it.

Given the massive buy-in from LSU’s side, I imagine you’d like to see him miss a hot yoga session before missing that.

Not in the least.

There has to be some tension between he and Frank.

Smart doing his interviews and hitting the road. I believe Kelly did the same.

Media actually announced he was leaving early before the game started.

P.S. other coaches have done the same thing before.
