What Alabama team is considered the best ever? Why are they never mentioned as best ever?

Is it because some of their best teams were so loaded with players that there were not huge stars and just great teams that beat you everywhere?
If that is the case how would such a well rounded team do against some of the other great teams? How much of a factor would the great bear Bryant have on the outcomes in a head to head match up against some of the other greats?

Because half of their “championships” are made up and most of the others they backed into them.

Impossible to compare eras.. the ‘61 team gave up like 26 points all season.. but no way they could compete today.
The best Alabama team I’ve ever seen, imo.. is the 2011 team. Yes, they lost a game to LSU at home. But that LSU team was a generational team as well on defense.
I’m sure others will disagree.. but I’ve been watching Bama football since the 60’s so I’ve seen a few teams
The 2020 team was the most dominant throughout a season, but it was an odd season obviously.

Because the best is always yet to come. Once your the best ever that means you have peaked. And there is one place left to go after you peak and that’s down. See LSU post 2019.

Alot of people will disagree with me, but that 1992 team was REALLY GOOD. The defense was one of the best I've very seen in 45 years of watching CFB. Allowed like 9 points a game, and it was impossible to run against them.

2020 Alabama was the best College Football Team I’ve ever seen. Covid year or not that team was different.

The 1961 national championship team was ranked tenth in ESPN's century-ending list of the greatest college football teams of all-time. They finished the season 11-0 and consensus national champs:
@ Georgia (W) 32-6
vs. Tulane (W) 9-0
@ Vanderbilt (W) 35-6
vs. NC State (W) 26-7
vs. Tennessee (W) 34-3
@ Houston (W) 17-0
vs. Mississippi State (W) 24-0
vs. Richmond (W) 66-0
vs. Georgia Tech (W) 10-0
vs. Auburn (W) 34-0
vs. Arkansas (W) 10-3 [1962 Sugar Bowl]

Coach Bryant could take his and beat yours, then take yours and beat his.

2019 LSU would have broken 2020 Bama in half.
