In 91 years of being played, the Sugar Bowl has featured an SEC team in all but 12 matchups.

The matchup this year between UGA and Ole Miss is just the 4th ever SEC vs SEC Sugar Bowl, and Ole Miss is the only team to play in more than one of those games going 1-2 in the previous 3.

The only previous SEC vs SEC Sugar Bowl rematch was in 1960 with Ole Miss avenging its regular season loss to LSU 21-0 to claim a share of the National Championship.

The more you know

Was that the last big game the Rebs played in?

Ole Miss in 1960: AP #2, Coach’s/UPI #3

You’re right. This is fun.

Ole Miss will play in its 11th Sugar Bowl, aiming to improve its 6-4 record. Georgia will be playing in its 13th Sugar Bowl, aiming to improve on its 5-7 record. Fans of both schools love going to New Orleans. I lived there for thirty years and have enjoyed both Sugar Bowls and Super Bowls there.

Cool stuff. We played you in one of those games. 1953 Sugar Bowl winning 24-7 capping off an undefeated 12-0 season and 1952 National Championship.

Pulling hard for you guys for obvious reasons in this year's Sugar Bowl but honestly hope you win it all after everything that's gone down with Kiffin. Best of luck!

Very interesting. Looks like Bama finished 1963 ranked 8th so we can’t say the winner has always gone on to a natty. But 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.

Is this real? Because I was thinking that this looked very familiar.

How did LSU fans deal with such a disappointment in 1960? No TD, no Moscona, no T-Bob with his T-Bob drunken ruminations…

As long as we’re reminiscing, the 2019 Sugar Bowl holds special memories for Longhorn fans. Before the game, Bevo broke free and stepped on Georgia’s little mascot, Toto, killing him. It was unfortunate, but a foreshadowing of what was to come in the actual game. Texas won that one 28-21, but of course it didn’t count because Georgia players “didn’t want to be there”, as any Georgia fan will tell you.

Oklahoma is 6--2 in Sugar Bowls.

Texas fans can point to the 1949 game and OU's QB was Darrel Royal.

Sooners went 1-1 in games against Saban.

Ole Miss about to be 1-3 in All SEC matchups.

Also, I did not know that Moo St. has never been. That is sad.

That fricking bovine piece of shite ought to have been slaughtered and turned into that ungodly garbage y’all call BBQ in Baja Oklahoma for behaving in such a manner to most loved mascot in the United States. UGA is 3-0 against Texas since that trashy bastard behaved in typical Texan fashion….that no account QB yall had was right…..Texas was back….back to mediocrity and unfounded pride…..
