We have a shot to win it all if Ty is back on.

Simpson has real talent and can play well for stretches. At times, he has a broad field of view and processes quickly. He has quickness and a strong arm.

The issue isn’t snap-to-snap inconsistency, it’s good runs followed by prolonged downturns. From a performance-psychology standpoint, he looks like a high-reactivity quarterback whose brain state shifts under sustained pressure. When stress builds over time, chemistry changes, execution tightens, and he doesn’t reset quickly.

That matters at quarterback.

The position rewards players who can stay mentally neutral for long periods. Simpson appears to cross a stress threshold where poise degrades and stays degraded until conditions change. That puts a ceiling on him as a long-term, high-level starter, especially in environments with constant pressure and evaluation.

In short:

He can get better.
He can’t become someone he isn’t.
And at quarterback, that sets a real ceiling.

That being said, the "good" Ty Simpson could take us all the way. It really comes down to luck and brain chemistry

Well somebody needs to figure out how to keep that positive brain chemistry whether it takes drugs, supplements, counseling, a service stuffed animal, whatever, just make it happen

I think those 10-11 days off really helped Ty re-center himself and improve what was ailing him. He was also attempting throws that I had not seen him try in quite a long while.

Thats been his Achilles heel

13 more days and that back is hopefully 100%.

Wasn’t a terrible run game the reason Grubb was let go in the nfl?

Dude, you’re bipolar. One minute you’re negative and saying we’re in trouble, the next we’ve got a shot to win it all.

He’s one of the biggest trolls on this site that clearly gets paid to sit on here and stir the pot. No reason why he should be allowed to continued to be allowed here unless he works for the site.

It's not just him.

Go back and read the game thread from Friday night.

That's one of the reasons Boz and I aren't lightning quick on putting down the ban hammer. At the end of the day (most) everyone here is an Alabama fan. Some people handle adversity, and success, differently than others.

The idiots down voting, LOL.... If OP is negative you down-vote him and if he is positive you down-vote him. This is why you don't pay attention to how people vote. People are going to dog you no matter what you say......I should know. I have my own little fan of voters that follow me around and vote to let me know they pay attention to what I say.

All game-time threads need to be flushed into the land of oblivion. The emotions and alcohol make them not reality. By the next day, it all calms down.

The one he ripped to Cuevas has more mustard on it than he’s had in a while, I thought.

He’s also pretty damn accurate and trusts himself. Why the shite do we not throw more passes, from anywhere on the field, like the TD to Brooks?

With the receivers and QB we have, those throws shouldn’t be that dangerous and they can be affective for this offense even if they aren’t completed.

This offense wastes a good amount of plays on bad calls alone. Or on things we have to do(like run). I’m not saying Grubb calls terrible games. Just that we have a high % of plays that won’t work based on limitations in the run game and inconsistent blocking.

How are we not sending a few deep balls like that each game? Don’t need 50 yard heaves. Just pretend like you’re trying to make the defense at least THINK about covering the whole field.

I don’t get it.

When he is not bouncing around in the pocket and throws with proper mechanics he was really on in the Okla game.

Maybe for a split second before each throw he is thinking “there is a 40% chance my receiver drops this even if I throw it perfectly” - that could really mess with a QB’s head.

Lord. They even showed the stat if I remember correctly.

1 for 8 under pressure
21 of 24 when he had time

Now take out the drops and realize how accurate he usually is, whether someone is in his face or not.

It’s pretty simple. Block someone, in particular learn how to switch on a stunt. Our OL has a lot of trouble identifying who to block.

We got better when we didn’t give the defense time to adjust to set up blitz and stunt games. Not that we need to go fast, but from huddle to snap does need to pick up. Force them to react to what we want to do more.

While he did pretty good there were still areas where he made similar mistakes.
The second down play in the OU redzone where he got caught staring and waiting for Germie to get open was similar to how he stared down and then overthrew Germie on the 4th down play against Georgia.
In both, he had open check down routes, but he never looked at them. He had Hill for a 1st down against Georgia and he had Cuevas wide open for a first down or even a TD the other night.
With that said, he did have some outstanding plays which reminded me of Ty midseason. The TD throw to Brook from the 30-yard line was great. The throw to Horton in the 3rd Q, The throw to Horton right after the muffed punt in the second Q. The scramble and 1st down run to set up the FG in the third quarter.
And the most important stat of all. No turnover. No sack fumbles and no ints. That's huge against a "ballhawk" defense which makes a living from forcing TO's.
