Penn State beat SMU by 28.

Stop getting mad about about JMU taking a spot from a team that lost to the only good teams they played (ND/Vandy) or lost 3 games including a bad loss to UF (Texas). Power conference teams control their destiny to make the playoffs and need to accept it when they fall short.

It’s almost like there’s too many teams.

A cute almost undeniable fact is that in the 10+ years of the 4-team playoff, 1 or 2 teams got their shite pushed in...in both of the semifinals...

We go to twelve teams, and its worse....so the public is now saying lets make it 16 or 24

Its fricking dumb

Most years (not all) there are 4 teams max that have set themselves apart.

Now we are struggling to identify 12 teams...but at the same time trying to justify 16 or 24

Its fricking dumb

4 was fine
The correct 4 weren't always right, but 12 teams is so fricking stupid

To be fair, we had some blowouts even when it was just 4 teams.

Playoff games with scoring margins of over 30:

2014 - Oregon 59 - FSU 20
2015 - Alabama 38 - Michigan State 0
2016 - Clemson 31 - Ohio State 0
2019 - LSU 63 - Oklahoma 28
2022- Georgia 65 - TCU 7 (the title game)

Did you just compare hosting Tulane at home to traveling to Ohio State at night against eventual national champion?

It’s more than about the result of the game. Incentivizing teams to play weak schedules like this is terrible for the game

No? I just said even power teams get blown out so don’t use JMU as an excuse for kicking the G5 out of the playoff.

All this is really the ACCs fault for adding Cal, Stanford, and SMU. And then creating tiebreaker rules in crayon.

The difference is when you're surprised it happened and not expecting it to happen as in the case of todays games.

Dude, I bleed crimson as much as anyone, but go ahead and throw our 44-16 asswhipping from Clemson for the 18-19 season on there too.

We won't know who the true champion is unless we let Arizona vs Navy play in the round of 32

I stopped at a 30 point margin because if I included 20+ that was a LOT of games.

If p4 teams are already blowing out other p4 teams, why should we dig even farther down and add g5 teams that are significantly worse than the p4 teams that are getting blown out?

Then that’s dumb too.

Need to find a system that works

They had a great season, but they were never going to compete with Oregon, and Tulane was never going to compete with Ole Miss. We need a separate G5 playoff.

The system is fine, D1 is broken. The top 40ish teams are pro teams. The rest are amateur. It’s too big, need to reclassify at least 65 teams back to D2

We sure do. But Tulane shouldn't be so quick to be lumped in with Madison. They should have competed at a much higher level vs the rebs. My biggest takeaway is still what Florida just got for their new head coach. Hugh question mark after that effort.

This. This. This.

I pointed out the same thing yesterday, but it seems the people here want an SEC/Big10 challenge that is nothing more than a rematch of regular-season games.
