Would not be disappointed to see him leave College Station.

No one wants to live in College Station

Elko is our Defensive Coordinator.

This is true. It’s a good decision for Bateman.
His replacement, Lyle Hemphill, is already on A&M staff as an advisor. This was a “best for everybody” thing.

There has been lots of mumbling about it this week.
Many wanted him gone last year after the end of season implosion, but supposedly Elko took back the lion’s share of the defensive duties.
Bateman has pretty much had a background/secondary role this year, and few people would be torn up to see him move on.
It would be a non-flashy hire, but Kentucky could definitely do worse. He’s steady, just not spectacular.

Oh no! Wow big get for Kentucky, you really pulled one over on us

He doesn't seem to be very good, so doubt A&M would care. In fact it would be sorta embarrassing for a DC at A&M to take the same position at Kentucky so guessing maybe Elko is telling him to move on?
Klein on the other hand is a big loss.

I like this better than the Charlie Strong suggestions we were getting immediately after the hire... mostly because I don't like Charlie Strong.
Also kinda sad its not Todd Grantham for the memes.

Interesting take considering a&m ranking is 21st in the nation on defense.

Who did they play? ND had like 50 points (and wins if the tackle on the DL is called).

I think a lot of Ags won’t be too broken up over Klein leaving. His play calling leaves a lot to be desired

Guess you didn't read the post about who is actually in charge of the defense, no loss for us. Bateman shite the bed last year down the stretch to the point Elko took over calling the D, was surprised he was retained for this year.

This is more about slimming down the A&M staff.

I suppose this is an okay hire. Not as good as I had hoped for.

41 is two scores away from 50, and there is no guarantee ND would have won if the holding had been called. 4th and goal from the 21 is well within TD range.
