Yeesh UGA's stranglehold of the 2nd best SEC program of all time (not counting these other new fricks) has widened considerably as of late.

Sad that GT left the SEC. They won 5 SEC titles between 1933-1963. They were easily a Top 3 program in the league.

Leaving the SEC absolutely killed their program. With the exception of their 1990 National title, they’ve mostly been irrelevant since.

I think they are too far gone to ever invite back, but had they never left they’d be one of the big guys to this day I believe.

Here are my likely controversial thoughts.

1. I think Arkansas would have been better off had they stayed with the Texas teams and joined the Big 12. Through 1991, Arky was a Top 20 program nationally and they would have been Top 4 or so in the Big 12 for the past 30 years instead of a bottom tier SEC team.

2. I think Vandy passes Kentucky in the all-time standings within the next 15 years.

3. Ole Miss was possibly on pace to get back up to above .500 in SEC play in the next 5 years had Kiffen not left. Not sure it will happen now, but we’ll see.

4. Texas A&M has been stealthily impressive after now 14 seasons in the SEC.

5. Will any of the newbies ever win an SEC title? Arky and S Carolina haven’t been able to do it in 34 seasons… A&M and Mizzou haven’t in 14 seasons… and now Texas and Oklahoma haven’t in two seasons. Starting to think it may never happen.

Two more great seasons to get our butts over .500, we got this. Worst case 5 seasons. The Kiffin years were 32-17 for SEC games, give the man credit. Orgeron dug us a hole going 3-21 in SEC and Matt Luke 6-18.

Actually surprised by this one, they have not been bad in SEC.

.320- Kentucky (194-419-12)
.252- Vanderbilt (150-464-18)

There is not a single living soul that will see these teams break .500

Let them amuse themselves, the nickname doesn't bother me at all given how senseless it is.

Mississippi State is rotting right where they are.

Maybe you will catch up to them in conference titles in year 2500

From a purely numerical standpoint, Arkansas is the only one even remotely achievable thanks to the smaller number of wins needed (67) because they haven't been in the conference nearly as long as the others.

For context, State might be the next closest, but they would need 198 wins to reach .500; poor Vandy would need 314.

Vandy could have a Saban-esque run like Alabama did from 2007-2023 and barely make a dent. They would need a run like Saban's at Alabama but for it to last not 16 years but rather 45 years to reach .500.

Imagine needing a Saban-era level dynasty for nearly half a century to break .500.

Giving them attention only reinforces their idiocy.

The SEC standings through the 1963 (1933-1963):

1. Tennessee- .662 (115-56-11)
2. Alabama- .649 (126-64-18)
3. Ole Miss- .623 (98-57-1)
4. Georgia Tech- .616 (115-70-9)

Up through 1963, Ole Miss was an SEC Big Dog.

Then in 1964, the Rebel program entered a 56-year period of Darkness… going 171-239-4 (.418) in conference play for that more than a half a century period.

Are the past 5 seasons the new normal or are they a short blip of success that’s part of the overall 60-year trend? Will be interesting to see how the Golden era does.

Would they tho? Vandy was once a sec power but stringent academics forced them to the backseat. Gt seemed like they were doing the same. They were the second best acc team pre Miami vt expansion, but they decided football wasn’t a priority either post Leary or post gailey. And accepted middle of the road acc fate. I think they’d just have been vandy 2.0

If you think ou and Tex won’t you are kidding yourself.

This isn’t arrogance or hubris and we know the sec is a physical and tough league.

However if you think in the nil era that both programs are not going to prosper to win a conference title I say that’s wrong

Embrace it Trout...corndogs are delicious and smell even better. They are essentially telling us that we smell awesome and most of them secretly want to toss our salads.
