I’ve always thought sacks should count against passing yards like they do in the NFL.

I agree, but they still do.
According to PFF
Bama on Saturday without sack yardage:
20 yards on 13 carries.
0 rushing first downs.
0 missed tackles forced.
Longest rush: 5 yards.

Georgia controlled the line of scrimmage in every conceivable way.
Great gameplan and execution.

Deboer is 2-1 vs Kirby, and that 1 loss doesn't even matter because Alabama is still in the playoffs.

So then DeBoer's 2 wins don't matter either, cause...well you know

So that's why Bear Bryant went to the Wishbone

Agree with that. Better use of stats if you think about it.
Plus the sack yards shouldn't count against the QB's rushing yards.

Believe it or not, I went to that game. I was 9 years old.
I remember the Bear getting a personal foul penalty for cussing the refs way out on the field. Easy to say but he wasn't very happy.

True story: Bryant had three pretty bad years where he went 18-13 in the late 60s before he adopted(and optimized) the wishbone and went ham in the 70s

So sacks should count against BOTH passing and rushing?

So we went 2-1 vs Bear Bryant ??? Wins in '68 & '75, the loss in '78.
I'll be damned !
Edit : Missouri's last Gator Bowl appearance was in 1968, when they defeated Alabama 35-10, but they are set to play in the 2025 Gator Bowl on December 27 against Virginia,

In the NFL, they take yards away from passing on a sack.
(Or at least they used too.)
Maybe with passing being so common nowadays, they don’t track it like that anymore.
I’ll AI/google it
Wiki
“ In the National Football League (NFL), it is possible to record a sack for zero yards. The NFL subtracts yards lost due to sacks from teams' passing totals (though the quarterback's individual passing total stats remain unchanged), while the NCAA subtracts sack yardage from individual rushing totals.”

Dan and his boy Al had the Bears number. But the admins cheaped out on Dan, and Al lost all the other numbers.

Yeah, that Bear Bryant guy just never got it figured out.

Agreed that yards lost on sacks should be counted against the passing yardage and not rushing yardage.
In college football it is possible to never attempt a running play and end up with negative rushing yards.
That is weird.
