Future of the SEC Championship game

I got downvoted to oblivion a couple years ago for saying the championship game is unnecessary now.
Well now that we have a 9 game conference schedule and a 12 team playoff I’d love to hear why the game is necessary and how it benefits the conference (besides money).

If Tulane and JMU make it while Bama, Texas, and Vandy get left out, the problem is bigger than the SECCG. Sankey has grounds to throw his SEC weight around and leave the NCAA.

It’s unnecessary because of the 9 game conference schedule and the playoffs will 99% be expanded to 14-16 teams next month going forward.

You act like this is an edgy take in 2025. It isn’t. The CG SHOULD be eliminated, no one should play OOC P4 teams, and we SHOULD go back to 8 games. But the conference leadership is spineless.

Because the system needs to be revamped to accommodate the new 12 team playoff
